I have been tracing business dealings of John Hardy Hoffpauir born 27 May 1811, who married Marie Constance Fontenot.

Opelousas Ct. Hse Succession No. 775, on 28 Nov 1836, includes the sale to John H Hoffpauir of a tract of land on Bayou Plaquemine at an Estate sale for which he paid $275. The transaction was witnessed by his siblings Thomas, Ephraim, and Elizabeth as well as their mother Charlotte Hoffpauir and her second husband Jacob Higginbotham. The Estate sold was that of Francis Hoffpauir! The inventory before the sale indicated that this was the only property in Francis' estate. The only Francis that would have died in this time period is Francis J Hoffpauir, John H's brother who was baptized 1 Jan 1812 and probably born 24 May 1810. I believe this is the correct Francis otherwise why would of all of the siblings and mother sign the document.

What I am trying to determine is when this Francis actually died and whether and to whom he was married. Based on this theory, he would have been about 25 or 26 years old at time of death.

Any ideas?
