Hello, I am looking for members of the Hoerr family. My father is Darryl Hoerr. His parents were David Roland Hoerr and Berniece Hoerr. My father, Darryl, was an only child. Both of his parents are dead. He does not keep in contact with his family. I have never met anyone from his side of the family. I am 22 years old and graduating from college. During my four years I have travelled abroad, living in the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, and Italy. It is quite hard to relate to a family you don't know, and to carry on the tradition of a family you do not know. Most of all, I would like to find out if we are German descendents or Hungarian. Our last name is difficult. Actually, leaving out one R, our last name means whore in Dutch. Trust me, I lived in the Netherlands for 6 months, and everytime I had to show my passport the Dutch laughed. The surname Hoeren is actually plural, whores. What a tradition. I did some genealogy a few years back from a place that I think ripped me off of 40 bucks. They said our name, Hoerr, comes from di Hoeri, or the swamp or marsh lands. They also said a Catherina Hoerr came from Germany in the late 1800's. she probably ost her surname quickly, If she didn't have a husband and found one in America.
