Classification: Query
Surnames: Hoag / Tripp
My 4th great grandfather was Nathaniel Hoeg.
- born 1749 - Dutchess Cty, New York. Have also been told born in Westchester New York.
- joined the American Revolution abt 1776 - age 25. (spelling then was Hoag)
- Fought with Col James DeLancey (Westchester Refugees)
- known as Robber Hoag during the American Revolution
- Fled to Canada after the war and settled in Nova Scotia
- 1st wife is unknown, killed during the war. Had 2 children Andrew and Sarah.
- 2nd wife Abagail Mills. - had 5 children
- Records that I have found have Moses Hoag and Patience Hoag as his parents....but have not been able to validate this. Have also found parents to be Moses Hoag and Alice Tripp. I strongly believe that Moses Hoag and Alice Tripp would be an Uncle & Aunt (Moses b/o Patience). If in fact Moses (b1716) died in 1758. Nathaniel may have gone to live with his Aunt and Uncle. Moses and Alice married in 1758 and have only been able to find two records that they have 2 children.
I notice a number of Family Trees having Nathan b1749....recorded with Moses and Patience. If anyone actually has come across a Quaker Document, or a town vital record...please let me know.
Thank you,
Kevin Hoeg
