My grandfather was Frank Benjamin Hoag b. 1891, Raisin twp.,Lenawee co.,MI. The whole family was from a place called Holloway corners. They are buried in Holloway (Ridgeway cemetary as it is called now) and several generations are buried there with them.I personally buried (poll barer) both grandparents there and knew nothing of this place before this time in the 1970's.My g-great grand father was John M. Hoag, and his father was John hoag born around 1825-35 in other than Michigan. Pretty much assuming the other Hoag are from NewYork area.

Re: Hoag family in Michigan
Hi I think we may be able to tie your side with our N Y information on the Hoag's. My mother and I have been attempting to find my father's grandfather. Nathan Hoag and his father was John Hoag. We think Nathan was born in 1835 son of Nathan Hoag born 1810 son of John Hoag ???? My grandmother told my mother several Hoag boys went to MI but could not remember the towns. Only they did not come back to NY. My father's family grew up in the area of Atlanta, Naples and Bath area. I hope this will be helpful to each of us. My father's name is Kenneth Ronald Hoag 4 of 5 sons to Olive Maria Wheaton Hoag 1904 - 1995 and Carl William Hoag 1903 to 1970. Carl's father was William Henry Hoag 1867 - 1940. We also know Nathan (1835) was married to Mary Elizabeth Stone Hoag around 1863 -1865 range. Thank you again hope to hear from you soon. Ellen

Re: Hoag family in Michigan
I don't know if my Hoags are in your line, but mine came from R.I. and N.Y. to Ohio and then to Lacota in Van Buren Co., Mich. where Philip Hoag was one of the first settlers in Lacota, Mich. Hoags were in the communities of Breedsville, Kalamazoo, Lacota and South Haven, all of which were in Van Buren Co., Mich.

Re: Hoag family in Michigan
Hello! My Hoag line goes as follows: John Hogg, b. unknown John Hog, 1690-1695 RI Abram Hog, b. 1725 RI John Hog, b. 1743 RI Abraham Hog, b. 1765 RI John Hoag, b. 1786 Ulster Co., NY Orrin S. Hoag, b. 1831 in OH Wilbur D. Hoag, b. 1867 Lacota, MI
It doesn't look like we're in the same direct line, but the locations are similar. We probably are related, now we just need to find out how.

What is your Hoag line-of-descendency?
|
We thought that we came from Beeman Hoag's line at first. Now I'm begining to find research that we may have came from Amos Hoag, charles Hoag, and then John Hoag.My great grandfather was John M. Hoag born 1864.Married to Rosetta Mathews. My grandfather was Frank (Francis) B. (Bejamin) Hoag born 1891,Raisin twp.,Lenawee,MI. A week ago we had a family reunion. The connection of a Jonathon Hoag in the 1850 census, which pretty much is a match ! He was living next to a Isabella Hoag from(mother) Rhoad Island ! amazing what you find fromolder relatives !

Thank you for your email. too bad I didnt know about the Hoag reunion, I would have gone. tell me the next time your going. are you close to Lenawee Co, Mi? Im about an hour and a half hours drive.
Please give me your Hoag line-of-descendency start from your oldest ancestor: include spouses, dates and locations all the way down to yourself so I can connect you to the overall Hoag family tree. there is a hoag book at the Marshall, Mi library, is your line in the book?
