Does anyone have any data on Orr Hoag of the Nassau/Stephentown region of Rensselaer County, N.Y.

He is my maternal g-g-g grandfather, was married to a Martha Hunt. They had at least one child, Catherine who married a Hiram Brown.

Any dates or other info would be appreciated!

Thank you!

Paula

I have a HOAG from this county. We must be related somehow.

My SOLOMON FROST married a ANNA HOAG
Anna--1795-1891.

Does this ring a bell?

Debby

Paula, I'm just curious. We have a John Bull Hoag in our family, from Renesselaer Co. NY, could he possibly be a brother or something to your Orr? Do you have any imformation on John Bull Hoag. Thanks, Kathy

I haven't seen any John Bull Hoag's in my line (I haven't started on any of the side branches yet). My Orr/Orren was the son of Asa Hoag and Elizabeth Norton, both born in Pittstown.

I've heard the historian out in Pittstown has a great deal on the Hoag family. I haven't seen her files yet, but I can give you her contact info if you want to e-mail me.

If I come across this John, I drop you a note.

Thanks Paula for your quick reply. If you have it, I would appreciate the email address for the Pittsburg researcher. It doesn't sound like we are in the same branch. K.

I don't have much data on Orr Hoag and his descendants, but you said his parents were Asa Hoag and Elizabeth Norton? My Hoag line is out of one of their other children, David Hoag.

The Hoag family tree page I'm looking at (from the Hogg DNA Project website, link below) says Orrin S. Hoag, son of Asa & Elizabeth, was actually born in Ohio in 1831. Looks like before 1820, Asa and Elizabeth had 5 children in NY, then after 1820 they must have been moving around, as there is one child listed as born in Vermont (Lavina Hoag, b 1822), and two children born in Ohio (Charles Hoag, b 1826; and Orrin S. Hoag, b 1831). Orrin was the youngest child.
