In your family HO did any (male) travel to South Africa late 1800 early 1900? I am trying to find a relative known only as "Chuck" HO who travelled to SA, married had 7 children and died on a return voyage to China. Survived by his wife and children who completed the journey to China staying with the HO family but eventually returning to South Africa.

Hi,
I am just starting my search for my Great Grandfather and noted your post. From what my grandmother remembers he was a general with Sun Yat Sen by the name of Ho Lui Hap (d. abt 1944). I've tried researching that name and haven't come up with anything. He supposedly was from Hoiping with mixed blood (either Chinese/Mongolian/Turkish or Chinese/Mongolian/Persian). Have you any mention of such name in your research?
Thanks

Hi,

I'm from Sydney, Australia but originally from Hong Kong.

I'm also tracking down the HO (何) family genealogy.

My grandmother (CHIU-Yim-King) and her entire family migrated from China to Hong Kong probably in the 1940's after WW2. Due to the mayhem of migration I assume we have lost contact with my grandfather (HO).

I'd be glad to help out, but I don't know where to start!

gymlaw - There is a suspicion that my grandfather was a military/government person. There is also a suspicion that the our bloodline is not of Cantonese decent. We are tall and have pale white skin that's not a yellow tan like the shorter Cantonese people. In fact, I am 185cm (6 foot 2?) and I have a FULL beard, which makes little sense as none of my mother's side nor ANY Cantonese people I know have much facial hair, let alone a beard.

Cheers.

If your ancestor immigrated to the United States there is very likely an immigration file for him in the U.S. National Archives. These files have information about family history and photos.
Alternately what information do you have about him? He is from Hoiping/Kaiping -- do you know of the village name? Do you have his name in characters?
There are a lot of Cantonese Ho's so it's a matter of getting to the village or town level specifically.
