Hi Dwayne,

I'm glad you wrote me. Unfortunatly my Grandpa (who brought this name here to my family) is dead, so my informations are quite little, but maybe together we can figure out if we are somehow related.
I do wonder if Hnatiw used (or still is) to be a common name in Poland, Ukraine or Russia, you'll never know because during the world wars they switched the borders so many times.
Well here are the informations I can give you right away -without asking my dad or aunts-
My Grandpa was born in March 20th 1925 in Kawnsko / Poland. His Mothers name was Nadja (too) and he had an older Sister, by the time he left Poland his Mother was sick. At first the Nazis wanted to bring his sister (Martha/Magda??) to a Workcamp, but because of his mother beein sick they took him instead. I am not quite sure, but I think I remember that he did not come straight to Germany.
Very little information, I know but maybe it is a beginning....I do try to figure out a bit mor, therefore I do need to ask my family.
What about your history?
Hope to hear from you soon

greetings
Nadja

ps: where are you from?
