Im Elizabeth (Liz) Hnat at 21 yrs of age from the UK. Was fascinated to see that there were so many Hnat's in the US (despite the size!) As currently as far as we know there are only two families here in the UK using the surname.
My Grandfather came over to England from Poland during the war, though from rumours i hear that his father's name was much longer than the regular Hnat. It's great to see so many of us out there!

Hello Liz
Just spotted your message on the board. Very interested in your connection with the Hnat line.
Our daughter married into the Hnat family here in High Wycombe, Bucks in 1978. Her husband is also the son of a Polish soldier who settled in England at the end of the war.
He died in 1982.
Our regards to you.

Wow! Can't believe there's a reply after so many years- just proves how few and far between the Hnat's in the UK are!

My Grandad moved to Nottingham after the war and became a painter and decorator. He was a pilot in the RAF after escaping Poland (including a long stint in a hospital where he suffered a disease)and he had originally been a university student in Warsaw. He actually became rather bitter that the war destroyed his life and took away his education.

He dies around 6-8 years ago, i was young so cant quite remember.

It's great to know there are others out there, if there's anything further i an help with, just give me a message.

Cheers,

Liz
