Re: HNAT, HNATH, ARENDACZKI, MARINCSIN Families from Maly Lipnik
My wife and I have been doing our family trees for some time. Her family comes from the village of Maly Lipnik and the nearby village of Matysova. What is so intriging to us with this post is that the Hnat and Arendasky surnames. Eileen's family begins with Stefan Arendasky married to Mary. They had five children a daugther who married John Hnat {Knott}, who had a son John. The others were Susan married to Joseph Swistak, Ethel, John married to Mary Tatar, Anna married in 1873 to John fedorjak {fedor}.
Many from the family moved to Stanhope N.J.; Landing N.J. Some other surnames in the Family are Gladis, Bach,Zulauf, Haschek. I believe that there is a possible link between our trees. I have much info that I can share. This post was just a small portion of it.This is just a quick introduction to what I have.
Looking for your reply

Re: HNAT, HNATH, ARENDACZKI, MARINCSIN Families from Maly Lipnik
I believe my family is connected. My grandfather, Michael (Hnat, Hnath) Knott died in Kenvil, NJ in 1952, anyway, he was born in Maly Lipnik in 1882, had a brother Joseph Knatt from Phillipsburg, NJ - Joseph had 12 children. My grandfather's father was Peter and his mother, Julia or Helena or Ilonya depending on the document translation. My grandfather had a sister, first name unknown who married a Bartko or Bortko (also a Maly Lipnik name). The Arendaczki (or similar spelling) name is on one or two baptismals of my aunts and uncles - I cannot trace back any farther than Peter and Julia in Maly Lipnik. Grandfather Michael's citizenship papers are dated 1903, seems he arrived here in 1897 but I cannot find him at Ellis Island. Lois

Re: HNAT, HNATH, ARENDACZKI, MARINCSIN Families from Maly Lipnik
I am still trying to pin down family members - how did you think our families were related? To refresh, my grandfather Michaes (Hnat, Hnath) Knott was born in Maly Lipnik about 1882, had a brother Joseph and a sister Mrs. Bortko or Bartko here in the US. GD Michael's father was Peter and his mother Julia or Helena or Ilona (depending on the document translation) - I cannot find anything later on the family in Maly Lipnik - the name is scattered throughout the Maly Lipnik area but I don't know who is connected to me............Lois

Is this still an active site? A Peg Hnath Kennedy is searching for family information. I believe she's a cousin of yours. Can you put me in touch with her? Thanks Lois

Susan, are you still out there and using this same email? We emailed for a short while a few yrs back. We are cousins. My grandfather Michael and your grandfather Joseph were brothers. Are you still researching the family? Would love to hear what you have found and I'll send along what I have recorded. Hope to hear from you, Lois

Re: HNAT, HNATH, ARENDACZKI, MARINCSIN Families from Maly Lipnik
I believe I wrote to you before. My Grandfathee Michael Hnat (Hnatt, Hnath, Knott) was born in Maly Lipnik in 1882, his father was Peter, his grand-father Todor. Todor had three sons, Peter, Janos and Milhaly. Perhaps your Grandfather Michael was the son of one of the brothers. My Grandfather came to the US in 1897 and, as far as I know, lived is whole life in New Jersey.
My grandfather had six sisters and two brothers. We could be connected somewhere in the weave. First names were reused a lot, how many Michael Hnat's could there be? Lois

Re: HNAT, HNATH, ARENDACZKI, MARINCSIN Families from Maly Lipnik
Both sets of my Grandparents were from Maly-Lipnik, Slovakia. It's amazing after doing research on my mom's side of the family then my dad's how the names intertwine. I recently researched the name of my dad's god-mother off his Baptisim Certif. It was Zuzanna Chanda. I found her passenger record on the Ellis Island Web site. Arrived 12/16/1906 on The Hannover. Her name at that time was Zuzanna Hnat. She married Joseph Nastcsin Chanda. They had 1 son Joseph Chanda. After viewing the Chanda family tree I then found one Stephen Chando married to Mary Krafchak ( my marternal grandmothers maiden name). Also one Peter Chanda married to Mary Hrinak ( my mothers maiden name). It's confusing. I don't know it any of this helps you, but that's my connection with the name HNAT/HNATH. My maternal grandmother & mother lived in Alpha, N.J. My paternal grandparents & father lived in Mahanoy City, Sch. Co., Pa.
