Hi,

my surname is Hladka and my father's name is Josef Hladky. I am from Czech Republic. I want to tell you all that most of the people of our name come from the area in Czech Republic called Haná. It is near town Vyškov in south-est of Czech Republic.
There are villages like Nesovice, Nevojice, Orlovice, Chvalkovice...and if you go there to the cemetery you can find lots of tombstones with our name..
And, most of our ancestors were farmers..

Good luck in searching for your roots :)

My Grandfather Karl was from Nesovice! This is exciting because it is the closest I have ever come to actually connecting with family outside of the U.S.

When my grandfather came to the U.S. his country of alliegence was listed as Austria but I believe that was only because the place he was from was part of the Austrian Empire back then. So many countries were within those boundaries and the boundaries changed so often! I would like to learn as much as I can about the place where he was from! Maybe one day we can actually go there and visit his homeland. Thank you for your post! Any other infromation you might be able to share would be greatly appreciated.

So sorry it took me SO VERY long to get back to my ancestry. Frank was the brother of my grandfather Karl or as he was called Charles in the U.S. Now I hope I can get in touch with you after so many years. I have a couple of pictures of Frank and Rose that you might like. They are wonderful.

Hi all,

i just updated my profile (from Icee190). I come from the Czech Republic and find the family history very exciting. If anybody needs some information, let me know. My father made a family tree and ended somewhere about 1780s.

I am also currently staying in Chicago, if that helps.

I too am interested in learning about the Hladky history. My great-grandmother was Sophia Hladky who married Roy A Huff. She was from Ravenna, Nebraska. I believe her sister was named Agnes, but I can't remember for sure. The two sisters lived in Milford, Nebraska towards the end of their lives, and Sophia lived in Lincoln, Nebraska for a number of years. Any help we could get would be great. We have been unsuccessful finding much on her side of the family. Thanks in advance!

All I know is that his family is from Ukraine and one part from Russia and I also know that he had ancestors in ex-Czehoslovakia. I dont have cousins and we're only 5 in whole Croatia, and I really want to know more.
