my son is a Hladky and his father doesn't know anything about his ancestors. I would like to find as much information as possible so that when he is old enough I may tell him all about his ancestors.

I have a little information on Hladky family in Iowa area. They came over from Moravia. Vaclav Hladky m. Anna Kouba and they had several children. I will share what I have if this fits in with anything close to your family.

Surnames: HLATKY, BRICH
My mother's cousin, John Brich, married Anne Hlatky - they lived in Lakewood, Ohio, near Cleveland; they died in 1957 and 1976, respectively. They had two children, both of whom are still living.

There seem to be a number of Hlatkys who have lived in the Cleveland area: Marie, Michael, Rose, Andrew, Peter, Kathryn. Their death records are on ancestry.com and probably also in the Cleveland Necrology Index at the Cleveland Public Library (www.cpl.org).

Hope this helps -- if you know anymore about Anne, let me know.

My Hladky family came early to mid 1900s. My grandfather was Charles (Karl) and he came first to Chicago where his brother Frank lived. He later moved to Juneau Co., WI. He was from Austria but his family was originally Czec.

Hladky is a quite common surname in parts of the Czech republic (esp. Moravia). A whole bunch of them, including my ancestors came from Orlovice - http://www.orlovice.cz
