Anton(in) , Charles, Vlasta Hladik Racine
I am NOT related, but have copy of Racine WI city directory pages for 1912 and 1914 that list above names. Also have copies of naturalization paper 1900 for Charles , 28 in Racine, 1904 for Antonin in Racine, and 1895 intention papers for Anton, 23, in St. Louis MO.
Obit states Charles was b. 11/30/1875 Bohemia, died 4-10-1943. Parents Frank and Anna. Lived with wife Anna Loeb in Racine WI. Daughters Mrs. Edward Krause, Mrs. Leslie Richards, and Miss Carrie Hladik.
If anyone connects with these people and/or is interested in these papers, glad to mail them no charge.

Re: Anton(in) , Charles, Vlasta Hladik Racine
Believe Vlasta to be my ggreat-aunt. Thanks for your offer of a mailing. That is very kind of you. Please send to 24 Byrd Rd, Lawrenceburg, TN 38464. My Vlasta was also Bohemian born to an "Anna" and reported to have lived in WI, IL and St. Louis, MO. as well as Detroit, MI. Vlasta lived near Edwardsville, IL when young and I have newspaper stories mentioning her and her Hladik siblings' prowess on the local spelling bee. Have been unable to get her father's given name from any living memory, but my Anna died in MI. Perhaps there were relatives there she visited and later she married and settled there. Her daughter, Annie Schroeck, still lives in California. Her sister Mary's (or Marie) daughter, Sylvia Cilc Kanyak, still lives in Michigan. The other names listed don't match what I know of the direct line but may be collateral relatives. We do have a Joseph, a couple of Tonys (Antonin?) but don't have a link putting them in WI other than Vlasta ("Flossie").

Re: Anton(in) , Charles, Vlasta Hladik Racine
How super that you have such interesting newspaper articles with peronal family history. Puts a face to the names, doesn't it? Glad to send on what I have to you. )My line is Hlinovsky and someone thought maybe Hladik was mispelling - not so- thus I have some Hladik papers. Make sure you check out Ellis Island site and LDS FamilySearch among other postings- they appear to have a wealth of Hladik names that might point to your line. Happy hunting.

Re: Anton(in) , Charles, Vlasta Hladik Racine
Sorry- I see you apparently have already throw a wide net and covered all bases, as with Ellis Island site etc. My 2 cents worth: probably is Edward on Ellis Island site, but not sure considering how clearly Edwardsville is writte. The writer had some odd flourishes though which sure makes it interesting and fun (?!) when deciphering things like that and census rolls. Be persistant.

Re: Anton(in) , Charles, Vlasta Hladik Racine
Could Charles of had a brother Frank that lived in Milwaukee, WI born about 1871 in Bohemia? Frank's wife's name was Antonia. He had 3 kids. He died in 1903.

Re: Anton(in) , Charles, Vlasta Hladik Racine
Hello Robert, This is very nice of you. I have been told that I was named after my great great grandfather Anton Hladik. I would assume that the papers that you have are from one of his sons so that would be a great great uncle of mine. My grandfather just passed last week. Our family would love these papers if you would be so kind to send them to Anthony J Hladik 34715 52nd Ave. S. Auburn, WA 98001
Thank you so much!

Actually come to find out there were many Anton Hladiks. Antonin may be closer in relation since we are Bohemian/Czech.
