My greatgrandmother's husband was Martin Hladik, with a hometown listed as Broszko, Hungary (although most of the rest of my ancestors were from Gbely, Slovakia. Hope this email is still active. I have a lot of info, and am looking to share for more.

My name is Jeffrey Bolebruch, and my grandmother's mother was Mary Lokaicek (Helen Lokiacek's sister), and I have a lot of stuff on the family, but am always looking for more. Also, attached find a couple of photos from St. Anthony's Cemetery in Johnstown, NY. Most of my family came from Gbely, just up the road from Kuty (which I visited last year). I'd love to talk to you if you are interested

I was not aware of a Martin Hladik in Johnstown, NY. Do you know any more about him? There is a Martin Hladik from Natick, MA who was from Broczko, but I don't know his parentage either.

Martin and Helen Hladik were in Johnstown in 1910 and 1920 census. I know they were there in 1909 as they were sponsors for my husband's grandmother's babtismal. 1910 Martin age 34 listed in ancestry under "Hedak" Helen age 29 Anna age 11 Fred age 8 Vilma age 5 Martin age 3 lived on Cummings Ave in Johnstown believe that was HILLSIDE Park area
1920 they still lived in Johnstown same ages only +10ish next door to Maty (Mathew) Hladik and wife Helen children Matj Jr. age 16, Pauline age 14, Anna age 12, Helen age 10, William age 7, Anthony age 4, and Leo age 8/12
I lived in Johnstown for 20 years when I was younger on Veghte St and Burton St.

I saw your family history on Martin and Helen on ancestry sure likes like the right family.
the 1910 census also shows a cousin Lawrence which was often a spelling for Lorenc which is how I connect.

I believe that Martin Hladik and Matej Hladik were brothers. I found the ship manifest record with Matej Hladyk travelling to Johnstown to his brother, Martin. I am curious about the maiden name of Martin Hladik's wife. Do you know it? Travelling with Matej Hladik on that voyage in 1900 were Aloys and Teresa Palkovic. I don't know if they were cousins, but I believe that Teresa became Matej Hladik's wife about 1903.
