Elizabeth Jane Hitchcock was the mother of Edward Whitman Hitchcock born Dec 1847 in
Canterbury. Birth cert shows no
fathers name. (Presume it was a Whitman)

Edward Whitman Hitchcock, married Fanny Jane Brient in 1876, Canterbury and had the following
children, all born in
Canterbury.

Edward James born 1877 (My grandfather)
Mable
Millie
Julia.

The family moved from Canterbury in the late 1890s, to Deal and changed the name to
WHITMAN.

Edward married Rebecca Taylor Pittock in 1904 in Deal.
Mable married James O'Niell in 1910 in Deal.
Julia married a chap by the name of Ireland in 1912 in Deal.
Millie had gone by 1891, so we presume she had passed away.

All three of the above were married under the surname of Whitman, father Edward being a
Photographer. An unusual
proffession at that time.

There surely must be some connections in the Kent area.
