: Betty Marie Himmelspach, 86, of Shaw Rd. South Zanesville, Ohio died Sun. July 27, 2014 at Genesis Hospice - Morrison House.
She was born on Dec. 29, 1927 in Coshocton, Ohio.
She worked at Mosaic Tile, Essex Wire, Ohio Swiss Cheese and was the owner/operator of Boutique Beauty Lounge.
Her hobbies included gardening, restoring furniture, and collecting antiques.

She loved her family and helping others whenever needed.

She was a friend and a ray of sunshine to all who knew her.

She is survived by three children Roseanna Sterling, Fred Himmelspach, Jr., and Debby (Wayne) Anderson; four grandchildren Heath Sterling of Florida, Fred Himmelspach III, Taci Gorby, and Nick Anderson; seven great-grandchildren Heather and Haley Sterling of Florida, Olivia, Tori, and Chase Himmelspach of Zanesville, Kayla and Clay Gorby of Crooksville, OH; two great-greatgrandchildren Ayden Thompson and Emery Rock; two sisters Alice Houston McConnell and Eileen McFerren; two brothers Virgil Stotts of Los Angeles and Jimmy Stotts of Florida; many loving nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tue. July 29, 2014 and from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Wed. July 30, 2014 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Drive White Cottage, Ohio where services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wed. July 30, 2014.

Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Thank you so much for the Himmelspach information. I have since found my g/grandmother was Marianna Stemmer and g/grandfather, Anton Himmelsbach. They were married 10/2/1893. My grandfather Joseph was born to Marianna 7/16/1893.
I went to the site you suggested and found it is not in English and I am unable to read it. Thank you for the link.

JOZEF HIMMELSPACH born in Ratkovo village ( Parabuty, Parabutsch, Paripas) in 1893. was born to parents JOZEF HIMMELSPACH and MARIANNA KNORR, not Anton. He was born on July 20th, and that is the only birth registered to Himmelspach parents that year in that village.

These records and names in them are in Hungarian, earlier ones are in Latin, and for both Ratkovo and Odžaci places of birth of his parents you will find that via Kalocsa diocese e-archive original records are available that span the period 1794 - 1922. Places you need are listed under their names in Hungarian language - PARIPAS and HODSAG.

She was born Tuesday, June 2, 1925 in Zanesville the daughter of Amos Shumate and Della (Wyatt) Shumate.

She married Charles F. Himmelspach, Sr. on Saturday, April 12, 1947.
She attended St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
Juanita was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time and caring for her family.
She loved playing bingo and always put others first and loved animals. Juanita was an Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns fan.

Juanita is survived by one daughter: Patsy (Michael) Strohl of Zanesville; two sons: Charles F. (Nancy) Himmelspach, Jr. of Pataskala, Ohio and W. She was born October 28, 1927, in Columbus, Ohio to the late Samuel and Freda Cole McCelland.

Virginia was an operator at United Technology and formerly resided in Athens, OHIO, where she had lived since she was seventeen years old.

Surviving are three daughters, Sharon Sue Devall of Zanesville, Ohio, Sandy (Bob) Williams of Zanesville and Karen Moore of Zanesville; a brother Leroy (Jane) McCelland of Lancaster; thirteen grandchildren, Tana, Cyanne, Norma Lynn, Shane,, OH: John, Chad, Wayne, Mike, Billie, Shanda, Peggy, Jackie, and Shauna; several great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; a special great grandson Cody George; and life-long best friend Hazel Cornell of Zanesville.

My Himmelspach roots come from the area of Heimbach/Emmendingen, Germany. I am particularly interested in finding the gravesites of Bernhard (born 1865), Andreas (Andrew-born 1867) and Josephine Himmelspach Martin (born 1875).

Clarence A. Himmelspach was b.26 Feb 1896 Zanesville (Ohio birth record)death certificate has 23 Feb, Muskingum Co., Ohio and died 18 Nov 1935 Zanesville, Muskingum Co., Ohio; he was buried 21 Nov. in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Zanesville. Clarence died at 39y8m25d of acute lobar pneumonia.

He and Edna Blackford were married 10 Feb 1923 in Muskingum Co., Ohio. Edna was born 5 Feb 1899 Meigs Tp., Muskingum Co., Ohio (d/o Thomas C & Mary E. Blackford) and died in June 1977 Zanesville, Muskingum Co., Ohio, on same stone with Clarence in Mt. Olive Cemetery.

Clarence was the son of Charles C. Himmelspach b.25 Aug 1866 Zanesville and died 30 Nov 1939 Zanesville, buried 4 Dec 1939 Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Zanesville. He married 4 May 1892 Muskingum Co., Ohio (Margareth) Elizabeth 'Lizzie' Schultz b.5 Oct 1872 Muskingum Co. and died 25 June 1951 Zanesville, buried 28 June 1951 Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Zanesville. She was the daughter of Charles F. A. and Johanna Maria/Mary F. (Landman) Schultz. Charles C. Himmelspach was the son of Francis Xavier 'Frank' Himmelspach b.c1832/33 France and died 20 Sep 1893 Zanesville, buried in the St. Nicholas Cemetery on 23 Sep 1893.

Charles' mother was Catharine Magdalena Pflieger dau. of Francis Xavier & Catharine (Crouse) Pflieger. 'Magdalena' was b.22 July 1841 France and died 5 July 1918 Falls Tp., Muskingum County, buried 8 July 1918 Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Zanesville. Francis Xavier Pflieger was b.abt 1806 and died 14 Mar 1888, 82 years old, Zanesville, buried 17 Mar 1888 in St. Nicholas Cemetery. Catharine (Crouse) Pflieger was born abt. 1812 and died 11 Feb 1879 Zanesville, age 67y, buried 14 Feb 1879 St. Nicholas Cemetery.

This Barbara may be my grandfather's older sister from his father's (Adam) first marriage. There was another sister from that first marriage, Frances (Friscko/Francico)

The family (2nd wife, Christina and their children) arrived in Canada Aug. 16 1913.

There were two more ... a brother Anthony and another brother/sister, Marion ... the latter two apparently remaining in Russia.

I have yet to find any Himmelsbach relatives in the US, but I have many in both Hodschag and Parabutsch, Hungary dating from the 1700-1800's. I have scans of the family books that I am willing to share. Please check my tree to see if we're related.

My grandfather had an older sister from his father's (Adam Himmelspach) first marriage. Her name was Barbara and they arrived in the Weyburn area about 1913 from Landau, Russia. She would have been a young woman about the age mentioned I was told she married and moved to the US. I do not know her mother's name. There was another sister named Frances, I think. 2 of the older children remained in Russia, Anthony and Marion.

I'm looking for info on my great great grandmother, Adelgunde Himmelspach (b. 1/28/1821 in Schuttertal, Lahr, Germany) - this info came from the LDS site. The info that I had was Adlegunda Himmelsbach, born 10/26/1821. I believe this to be the same person and think her mother's name may be Maria Anna (unknown last name). I have no idea who her father was, nor the names of any siblings. Adelgunde or Adelgunda married Jacob Sutter in New Orleans, LA., on 3/25/1841, then they mirgrated to Montgomery, AL., where they raised a family.

Any info would be extremely helpful. Also, could someone tell me when the Himmelspach changed to Himmelsbach? Thanks so much -

My father, Frank, is the son of Joseph Himmelspach. My grandfather (Joseph) was married to Monica Stein. All of this particular branch of Himmelspach's grew up in North Dakota. I am not sure exactly where the came from - somewhere in the German/Russian region. My father also told me that when he was in Germany and people heard his name, they made some reference of him having Jewish roots...??

I am researching - Barbara Himmelspach Keller - born November 8, 1895 in Landau, Odessa to Adam Himmelspach and Maude? Magelki (These names are on her social security application) - she came to Canada in 1912/13 to the Weyburn area with an relative? or parents. She married Edward Keller in 1914 and came to the US in 1915. She never went back into Canada as she was not a citizen until 1962 and did not have the proper papers. I am trying to confirm that this is correct...I have sent for her citizenship papers but have not received them yet.

He died in NOV 1907 in Buffalo, Erie County NY. I've found no connection to Missouri Himmelsbachs yet.

Following is all I have on Elizabeth Himmelspach. She was my great-grandmother and the second wife of John Heisserer. I believe her father's name was Sebastian. Beyound that little is known of her family. Can anyone help? It is believed she also came from the Alsace Region.

"After the war, John returned to farming in Kelso, Missouri. He also established the first mail service between Cape Girardeau and New Madrid, Missouri, carrying the mail on horseback. It took him a full day for delivery. He married Rosine Glauss on November 23, 1865 and had three children. They were Adam, Bernard and Louise (Mrs. Blattel). His first wife died July 7, 1871. He remarried to Elizabeth Himmelspech on February 23, 1872 and had eight more children. They were Celestine (Mrs. Bernard Baudendistel); Rosina (Mrs. Clemons Westrich; Caroline (Mrs. Joseph Schaefer; Aloys, Otto, Soloman and the youngest-August. His second wife Elizabeth died May 15, 1909. John died of "infirmities of age" at 89 on January 9, 1928. John is buried with his second wife at St. Augustine Catholic Church cemetery in Kelso, Missouri. His first wife, Rosine Glauss Heisserer is buried at St. Lawrence Catholic Church cemetery in New Hamburg, Missouri. John was blind the last 2 years of his life, but other than that retained nearly perfect health until his death."

Here's Elizabeth's tombstone and that of her parents--Sebastion and Rosine (Hoffman) Himmelsbach.
Does anyone know if there is a connection to the others listed here? This is all I have on the Himmelsbachs' (Himmelspachs'). I am not even sure of the spelling. I have seen it both ways. What is Sebastion's parents names and datse?

My grandfather Anton was born in Russia. He and his parents migrated to here. My grandfather was born on July 23, 1898 and died on April 16, 1970. He married Katherine Zimmerman. She was born on August 30, 1904 and died on May 13, 1987. They has 11 children in which only 2 have passed on. Antons parents are Adam Himmelspach born on Dec. 26, 1869. And Anna Kruger born on Feb. 27, 1873.
