ZANESVILLE: Juanita Himmelspach, 87 of Zanesville, Ohio died 3:00 PM Thursday, December 20, 2012 at her residence following a short illness.
She was born Tuesday, June 2, 1925 in Zanesville the daughter of Amos Shumate and Della (Wyatt) Shumate.
She married Charles F. Himmelspach, Sr. on Saturday, April 12, 1947.
She attended St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
Juanita was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time and caring for her family.
She loved playing bingo and always put others first and loved animals. Juanita was an Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns fan.
Juanita is survived by one daughter: Patsy (Michael) Strohl of Zanesville; two sons: Charles F. (Nancy) Himmelspach, Jr. of Pataskala, Ohio and W. Jeffery (Kathy) Himmelspach of Zanesville, OH; eight grandchildren: Jon Strohl of Newtown, PA, Amanda (Padraic) Arway of Canton, Heidi (Jody) Sims of Pickerington, Ohio, Paul (Amber) Himmelspach of Westerville, Ohio, Chris Himmelpach of Cambridge, England, Joseph (Heather) Himmelspach of Whitehall, Ohio, Linsey Strohl of Columbus, Ohio and Karlye Himmelspach of Zanesville, OH; seven great grandchildren: Andrew, Patrick and Charles Arway, Chelsee Cress, Natalie Himmelspach, Cy and Adelyn Sims; three sisters: Dorothy Skelton of Granville, Ohio, Margaret Mellen of Zanesville and Ruth Ann McElroy of Vermillion; two sisters-in-law: Ada Mason of Visalia, CA and Julia Shumate of Zanesville.
In addition to her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by her husband: Charles F. Himmelspach, Sr. who died November 16, 1989; four brothers: Walter, Clarence, Arthur and Russ Shumate and two sisters: Betty Brown and Rosemary Faust.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM, Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at The Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Thursday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with a Dominican Father as celebrant.
She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
