I am searching for my great grandfather. He states he's from Selach, Baden, Germany. I located an 1877 ship manifest showing that he, his wife Agnes Werner and children all arrived to the US from Germany through the Netherlands on board the ship-Schiedam.

Dan, Thank you so much for the tips! This has been quite the challenge! I've not been too succesful regarding Germany. I think I have a correct DOB but the town he said he was from, Selach, Baden, listed on his passport, seems to be misspelled or doesn't exist. I will research the links you sent me. My mother was his sister and he was know to me as Uncle Bussy.
I am working on the Hilz portion of our tree and would appreciate any information on the family.

I am trying to locate the family of my great, great grandmother. She was Mary Hilz. She was born September 8, 1839 (where I don't know) and died July 26, 1894 in Burnt Prairie, Illinois. She married John Haegele on July 20, 1858 and they joined the Lutheran Church in 1861.

If any of this is familiar with anyone, I would really appreciate any information. Thanks so much!
gingerspires@palmettomobilenet.com
