Just starting to check out the Higbee's. Could we possibly have a connection? My great grandfather was William Higbee, born IA, died NE, had daughter Catherine, who married Charles Strawn. I have a family history from a family member and am trying to check on facts. It has Williams father as Tyler, born NY, died MI, his father is James, born NY, died MI. Does anything sound familiar?

Do you know anything about his mother, Mary Jane Wilcutt, and her family and parents? How about when and where she died? I am a ggg-grandson of her brother, John J. Wilcutt.

Regarding Mary Jane Wilcutt. She was born about 1821 in Ohio (possibly Kentucky) the daughter of Elijah Wilcutt.

For more on the Wilcutt (various spellings)do a Google search on Wilcutt and look for the Wilcutt families including some missing links.

Have gone back to Higbee queries after QUITE a while and noticed your posting. William Tyler Higbee did have a daughter Catherine. Maude Catherine Higbee in fact. She was born December 12, 1886. My husband's grandmother. However, she married Delbert Lincoln Moore on 15 Nov. 1905 at Meadow Grove, Madison County,NE. She passed away December 16, 1987, age 101 yrs, 4 days at the hospital in Ainsworth, Brown Co., NE of pneumonia caused by aspiration after suffering a stroke during surgery on her hip. Had her hip fracture and then she fell. Lived by herself until the age of 96 or so.
Cildren all born Meadow Grove, Madison,NE.

Two sets died one at about 3-4 months gestation and the other at 7 months gestation.
She lived from the time of the first airplane flights to seeing the first man on the moon.
