I am looking for anyone who may have information on my family from Okinawa. My great-grandfather was Kame Higa, born about 1880 and died around 1927 in Hawaii. He married my great-grandmother, Nabe Shimabukuro, in 1920 when she arrived as a picture bride with two other ladies that married two of his brothers. Kame was one of eight children. He had an older sister, an older brother named Seiko that stayed in Okinawa and maintained the family property, 4 younger brothers and a sister. Two of them went to Argentina. My guess is that Nabe was born around 1888. They were all from Nakagusuku, Tomai, Okinawa. Nabe had two children prior to her departure to Hawaii that were left in Okinawa from previous relationships, a boy (Yakabi (?) family) and a girl (Shimabukuro family). Nabe was approximately 32 years old when she arrived in Hawaii; Kame would have been about 40 at that time. Nabe had my grandmother in Hilo, Hawaii in 1922 and subsequently had 2 daughters and was pregnant with another daughter when Kame died.

If anyone has information or links to my family, I would appreciate a reply to my post. I have more information available and can cross-reference with my grandmother and great-aunts if need be. Thank you!!
