Hello,

Looking for a Hicks family from in or around Ashe/Alleghany County, NC who may or may not have lived in Grayson County, VA as well.

I have a Mary E. (maiden name unknown) Hicks who was possibly married to a Hicks. She lived in Glade Creek, Alleghany, NC area until 1900 when she appears in Grayson County, VA.

Her husband is not listed in any of the census records, but she has children with birth years between 1861-1883.

1880-1900 census records list her as single, after that she is listed as widowed. The 1870 census doesn't specify either way.

Their children were:

Alexander Michael Hicks
Kirby Hicks
Alverta Hicks
Calumba Hicks
Callie Donnal Hicks
