Hi again
I can't find Snatha, but Killanena is about 20km north of Kilkishen. Kilkishen seems to be another area where there were a few Hickman's (perhaps its the area they lived with Six Mile Bridge being the larger town) I don't know how/when/why they moved..perhaps they had land in both areas.
My G grandmother was Michael Hickman's eldest and she and her 2 eldest sisters came out to New Zealand on an assisted passage in 1878, and a couple of years later she put the money up for her youngest sister. The family story being, once her mother remarried things at home were not great.
Apparently my g grandmother was sent to live and work in a large house in the area when she was a girl. She was a hard woman in her older years and enjoyed the bottle, hater people talking about her behind her back (woman included..she knocked one out for doing it!). Interesting woman by the sounds of it.
The girls in New Zealand had varied lives...3 becoming widows young. I have managed to find descendents of all 3 sisters in NZ.
Anyway I will keep plugging away and hope there will be break somewhere!
