An anecdote entitled "The Magic Wand of Color" in the August 1930 Readers Digest (page 112) tells of an unusual dinner party held by Samuel G. Hibben, an illumination engineer.
It seems that he wanted to see what happened if people were served dinner under a special light filter that only allowed reds and greens to appear. Coffee was yellow, milk was red, peas were black - most of the guests lost their appetite and many were ill.
A quick search through familysearch.org came up with one Samuel Galloway Hibben from Highland County, Ohio.
I am not a Hibben but I thought this article would be of interest to anyone in his family tree. Old Readers Digests are often found on ebay and antique shops.
