Can someone come please forward and reveal the primary source for Joan(e) Fairfield as wife of John Hibbard.
(A record that was created at the time of a event by a person who had reasonably close knowledge of the event.)
Nearly all the trees online have Joan(e) Fairfield as wife.
None have a primary source to support this. Not even secondary sources. Is she the wife because several hundred other trees and LDS data also make the claim?

I was in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England in September of this year and spent a lot of time searching the Salisbury, St. Edmunds parish registers and John Hibbert, father of Robert above married Ellynore Hardinge 23 February 1600. When a child is born only the father's name is given in the parish registers. I did not find any marriage to Joan Fairfield, and the a child born to John Hibbert was named Ellonor. I found the births of the five children in St. Edmunds parish registers and had a copy of the marriage, and also of Robert's birth, and John's death in 1626 made from the registers by the archivist who agreed this marriage made sense. I also did much social history research that you would find interesting involving John and Robert and also information in St. Martins parish register that is of interest involving two other children. Have sent this information to Phil Hibbard.
Note from Me: 2009, and Phil Hibbard's (http://hibbardfamily.org/) website still has Joan Fairfield as wife. I have yet to see any evidence to support that claim.
