In need of early info on Samuel Porter b 1855 Pulaski Twp, Lawrence Co PA d 1925 in Milwaukee, WI. married to Cora Bean in 1882 in Mercer Co.
Who is Samuel's Father. I have been researching the William and Mary Hofius Porter family and find their son David b 1830 married and died in 1860. I can't locate his wife. But presume since he was married between 1851 and 1860 and she isn't a widow Porter with son Samuel listed in the area in 1860 census that she too may have died. OR possibly they weren't parents to Samuel Porter 1855. But presuming the possibility that Samuel is their son she too died before 1860.
Reasoning of mine is that in 1870 census Pulaski Twp, Lawrence Co, PA a Samuel Porter b 1855 at age 15 is living with a Mary McMahan b 1806 (possible grandmothe as Mary's one son is named Porter McMahen). Thus a family member raising an orphaned son.
There is Samuel Porter age 24 single and a tinner in the 1880 census Greenville, Mercer Co, PA. I believe to be the same person.
My Samuel Porter married soon after that to Cora Bean. They left the state for Marshalltown, IA 1883-1888. Then to Milwaukee until death in 1825.
Since I find the William Porter family of Sandy Lake Twp. Mercer Co doesn't have any information on their David's marriage and since he is listed as married in his death paper, I believe him to be father to Samuel whom we can't find a parent for. Being births and deaths timed that they won't define dates more than this I am wondering if anyone of the William Porter family of Sandy Lake has any Bible record of his marriage and birth of a son Samuel. Or any alluding to him being married to a McGahan that would put Samuel into that fmaily as he is listed with McGahan in one census.
Thanks for any information,
