I am a born Hexamer from the Hexamer's branch in Germany. Nowadays a lot of members of this family live in different German towns, and there are branches not yet mentioned in this board. I live in Berlin, but there are others in Dresden for exemple. My grandfather, Karl Albert Hexamer, was born June 3th 1903 in Saarau (Saarland), he moved over to Saxonia and died there in 1976. But I was told that his family originated from Alsace/Loraine. Unfortunately I have no proofs for that. I also heard the story of the origin of the name from Herxheim, but there are several villages called so. Other Hexamers, I know, lived around Meddersheim and Sobernheim in the early 19th century. Some people of this branch moved to America: I know of a male Hexamer who was born Dec. 3rd 1815 in Sobernheim, exiled in 1837 and married Philippina Juliana Esselborn in Roxbury, their daughter was born Sept. 25th 1834 and married a certain Werner. A Friedrich Hexamer, born Febr. 22nd 1801, married Henriette Christine Rettig in America. Concerning the Zweibrücken-branch I know of a Eleonore Margarete Hexmer (written in this way), born in Zweibrücken 1765, died 1838 in Mannheim, who was married to Jean Baptist Schuler. I hope I can help some of you with this information.
Greetings to all Hexamers
