I too have heard of our connection with the indian blood but have no way to prove this. My father's uncle successful made the connection but took the info. with him when he died. I don't know how to start.

Just so everybody who was posted messages here, there are multiple distinct HERSEY families in the U.S. The two major ones are from New England (with ancestors from England) and Wiregrass Georgia and Florida (southeast Georgia and northern Florida. The Wiregrass Georgia HERSEY families have an Indian male ancestor who I believe to be Thomas HERSEY (1803-1906) from Coffee and Ware Co., Georgia.

My wife is a HERSEY from Wiregrass Georgia; a 3rd great granddaughter of old Thomas HERSEY.
