I am looking for information on the HERSEY family which appears to have settled in Winnebago Co., IL in the 1840s. Samuel and Prudence HERSEY had sons Horatio and Henry born there in 1843 and 1846. There was Ira HERSEY living there in the 1840 Census.
Samuel HERSEY reported on later censuses that he was born in Maine (about 1815). I know there were lots of Herseys in Maine. Can anyone help me identify the parents of Samuel?
