Follow-up on Nancy Ann Hendricks/Hendrix:

I have discovered she lived until after 1880. Here is the info I currently have:

Nancy Ann Hendricks/Hendrix was born bet. 1796 & 1800 in SC (various censii). Parents possibly but not proved Peter Hendricks/Hendricks and Elizabeth Gibson. Nancy married James A. Eddins/Edins/Eddings/Edens between 1813 & 1817 in Lexington County, SC. (Bob Eddings). Known children: Peter, Sarah, Hiram, Rebecca, Blakely, Ann Susannah, Zilpha, Elizabeth, James.

1820: James Eddings is in the town of Columbia, Richland, Richland, SC. There is one male 26 - 45, and one female 26 - 45 (Nancy). No children, which is very odd, as Peter and Sarah had been born already. This has to be our J.A. because although Columbia is in Richland County, a small part of it extends into Lexington County.

1830: James A. Edens is listed in Wilcox County, AL, no town listed. In the household there are one male under 5 (Blakely, 8, by mistake?), one male five to ten (Hiram, 9), one male 10 - 15 (Peter, 12), and one male 30 - 40 (James, 38). There are two females under five (Zilpha, 4, and Elizabeth, 1), two females five to 10 (Rebecca, 8, and Ann Susannah, 7), one female 10 - 15 (Sarah, 11), and one female 30 - 40 (Nancy, 34).

1840: J.A. Eddings is in an unknown township in Tallapoosa, AL. In the household are four males and 4 females. 1 male between 5 & 10 (James, 5), 1 male 10 - 15 (Blakely, 18, by mistake?) , 1 male 15 - 20 (Hiram, 19), 1 male between 40 & 50 (James). Two females between 10 & 15 (Zilpha, 14, and Elizabeth, 11), one 15 to 20 (Rebecca, 18), one 40 - 50 (Nancy). Ann Susannah is already married to Rix. Neighbors include P.R. Eddings (son), Coleman, Yarborough, Hightower, Rope (future SIL?), Thornton, John Davis, Rowell, Ward, Moore, Ray, Rogers, H(enry) J(ames) Rix, married to Ann Susannah.

1850: James A. Eddins is in Tallapoosa County, AL, 56, has $150, a farmer, born in SC, cannot read or write. Also in the household are (Nancy) Ann, 54, and son James T (or F), 15.

1855: James A. Eddins is in Tallapoosa County, AL, on Beat #6. There is one male under 21 (James T or F.), one male over 21 (James A.), one female under 21 (Elizabeth) and one female over 21 (Nancy Ann).

1860: Ann Eddings is listed in the household of (son) James F. Eddings in Tallapoosa County, AL. She is 64, born SC, has $100. Also in the household are Peter R., 16, and Ann M., 17 (either James’s wife or sister).

1870: Z. E. Freeman is living in Oak Bowery, Chambers County, AL. She is 45, female, keeping house, living in the household of F. M. Poke or Pope, a farmer, 25, $550, born AL. Also in the household are Ann Edwin, 20, born AL, at home; Martha Poke or Pope, 20, born AL, and Nancy Eddins, 70, at home, born AL.

1880: Z. A. Freeman is living in Opelika, Lee (says Chambers in the margin) County, AL. She is 50, born AL, parents born SC, has rheumatism, can read & write. Also in the household are M. J. Pope, 25, parents born SC., son F. M. Pope, 23, clerk in a junk shop, N. Edins, 84, widowed, born SC, parents born SC; SIL A. M. Edins, 30 or 38, sewing, born SC, father born SC, mother born KY; and Neil Gilmore, laborer & servant, born AL, parents born AL.

After 1880 I've not found anything about Nancy Ann, but it's nice to know she lived to a ripe old age.

Hope this helps somebody. Looking forward to hearing any comments!
