The Will of Clarke Lowry dated 21 Feb 1774, probated 14 April 1774, of Oxford, Sussex County, New Jersey. Wife: Mary, daughter of Joseph McMurtrey. Children: Joseph, Jane, Sarah, Nanny, Elizabeth and Martha.
Lowry Conveyance, 17 April 1799 Northumberland Co. PA.
Signed: John Haynes, Israel Biddle, Daniel Dildine, Jane Haines, Martha Biddle, Agnes Dildine, "daughters of Clarke Lowry deceased", late of Sussex County and State of New Jersey.
So, apparently Israel Biddle married Martha Lowry, Daniel Dildine married Agnes/Nancy Lowry and John Haynes and Jane Lowry. I know all these families continued to live in the area which later became Columbia County, Pennsylvania.
Are these the same Biddle and Dildine families who married Hendershotts? Was there ever a Haynes/Haines and Hendershott marriage before 1840?
Recently I saw a notation at a place called Bible Blog on the internet that mentioned a Family Bible of Lewis, Haynes, Haines, Hendershott, Lowry, Turney, Hess & Ash
"This 1813 Bible Inscription indicates that the bible and accompaying written material were in these familes. Papers inside- one says All except Grandma Lewis are buried near Danville, PA in a place called Derry Church"
"Grandma Lewis" was Sarah Catherine Haines Lewis (1843-1933), the wife of Oscar Lewis. She was the daughter of Clark and Elizabeth Haines, and Clark was the son of John Haynes/Haines and Jane Lowry.
I have tried to locate this Bible but no one seems to know anything about it even though someone posted it on the internet but not in its entirity.
Can anyone help finding more information on these famiies and how does the Hendershott name come into the picture.
