Seeking information about the descendants of Rev. Joseph C. Hembree and Charity Webb. Joseph C. Hembree was brother to my great-great grandfather, James Washington Hembree. They were sons of Davis Hembree and Adaline Miller.

(Rev.) Joseph C. Hembree , born June 1841 in Buncombe Co., NC; Betw. Apr and Nov 1907 [an obituary for a person at whose funeral he officiated was published Apr 4, 1907 in a MO newspaper; in Nov 1907 Charity Webb applied for his Civil War pension as a widow.]. He married Charity Webb 1859. Her death certificate indicated that she was born July 05, 1843 in Cocke Co., TN; died Mar 08, 1912 at 11 o’clock a.m. in Wayne, Bollinger Co., MO [burial at Speer Cemetery Mar 09, 1912]. She was the daughter of James Webb and Anna Aslinger of TN (HER MAIDENNAME MAY HAVE BEEN REPORTED IN ERROR ON HER DEATH CERTIFICATE -SOME FAMILY RESEARCHERS REPORTED THAT THEY BOTH HAD THE SURNAME, "WEBB" - THEY WERE REPORTEDLY COUSINS).

Rev. Joseph C. Hembree fought in the Civil War and was a teacher and a Baptist minister. He migrated from NC to TN and settled in Bollinger Co., MO.

Children of Rev. Joseph C. Hembree and Charity Webb are:
i. James D. Hembree, born Apr 11, 1860 in TN; died Mar 11, 1871 in Bollinger Co., MO.

ii. Effie L. Hembree, born Apr 19, 1868 in Nashville, TN; died June 30, 1955 in Lutesville, Bollinger Co., MO. She married Daniel McCarney Dennis Apr 24, 1894 in Marble Hill, Bollinger Co., MO. [CHILDREN: Joseph Herman Dennis, Lela Sethel Dennis, and Glen Dennis]

iii. Joseph P. Hembree, born abt 1876 in MO; died 1894 in probably MO.

iv. Ila Mae Hembree, born Feb 26, 1878 in MO; died Mar 1970; last residence in MO. She married John Alexander Hopkins Apr 7, 1896 in Marble Hill, Bollinger Co., MO. (CHILDREN: Orion Dewey Hopkins, Willa C. Hopkins, Lois V. Hopkins, John Truman Hopkins, Joseph C. Hopkins, and Norman G. Hopkins).

v. Hattie Launa Hembree, born 1880 in MO; died aft 1920. She married William B. Sides Abt. 1898/99. Their three children shown in census enumerations were Earl, Lymon and Eula - all born in MO. When/where did Hattie and William die?

vi. Bertie Hembree, born Apr 6, 1883 in Marble Hill, Bollinger Co., MO; died Apr 26, 1884 in Marble Hill, bollinger Co., MO.

Hoping very much to connect with this part of my Hembree family and share information-

Jean
