To clear up some info. Michael Leonard, son of Peter Leonard and Barbara Hege filed a Rev. Pension application in KY in 1835 stating that he and his family moved to KY in 1779 (with a group of settlers led by Isaac Ruddles) and settlling on the Licking River. The group (49 men were listed) constructed a fort and called it Ruddle's Station. In Jun 1780, the fort was attacked by about 800 British and Shawnee Indians. Michael states does not mention the fate of his parents or his brother, Valentine, but he states that he was taken prisoner and marched to Detroit where he remained until 1783.
The "official" record of the attack at Ruddle's Station lists three Leonards. Michael, Katrina (Kitty), and Katrina's husband (first name not given). Record states that Katrin's husband was killed in the attack and that she was taken prisoner and later released. There is no mention of Peter or Barbara Leonard.
According to other Leonard family histories, the only Leonard family to go to KY was John Peter and his wife, Barbara and there the only son of Valentine Leonard to have a wife named Catherine, was Michael, who married Catherine Shoaf in 1775 and died in NC in 1827.
