Hans Hege (1687-1765) arrived ship, JAMES GOODWILL, 27 SEP 1727 in Philadelphia. One of his two sons was a Jacob Hege who settled in Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, PA. Another son, my ancestor, John Hege (born circa 1721 died between 16 JAN and 1807 ) in Franklin County, PA -- left a Will, recorded there on FEB 1807. His wife was Elizabeth (daughter of Christian Pealman) of Lancaster County, PA John (1721-1807) and Elizabeth had several children discussed in a 30 page pamphlet about the Descendants of Hans Hege published in about 1851 in Chamnbersburg, PA. This family is also discussed under heading IMMIGRANT II, in the hardback book Hagey & Dulaney Families in America, by W.A. and K.A. Hagey, published in 1951 in Bristol, TN.
John (1721-1807) and Elizabeth had son, Peter Hege (1759- 1 OCT 1847) my ancestor. I was wrong. Peter married Elizabeth Rupe (Rube, Rubi etc.). They had nine children: Nancy married Frederick Myers; John (born circa 1790 discussed below); Mary married John Fox; Elizabeth married Lewis Hoopengardner, Susannah married Abraham Fox, Peter Hege, Jr. (1793-1877) married Catherine Shofe (1791-1858); Jacob Hege married Jane Hoser; Christopher married Martha Law and Catherine Hege married Abel Dean.
Moving to John Hege (born circa 1800-1882) buried at Zion Church Jackson Twshp. Huntington County, IN John 91800-1882) married Elizabeth Russell, likely of Franklin County, PA. They had several children and eventually moved to Indiana. They had at least one son who remained Lawrence County, PA who had a boy named Harry Hege who has descendants there. They had a elder daughter, Mary Jane who married Lot Shoaf -- and reputedly raised HER young sister, my great-great grandmother, Susnannah Hege Mayne (1831-1921), my ancestor. Two sons of John (1800-1882) who settled in Indiana were AMOS HEGE and WILLIAM HEGE in of the Huntington, Indiana area. My e-mail is
david.a.mccormick@gmail.com if I can be of further help. There is a HEGE DNA project. If interested I could give you the e-mails of the organizers of that. It is under the "FTDNA" firm . They are tracing about eight or ten lines of Hege (spelled variously) in teh USA and Europe.
There was another Hans Hege (immigrant) who settled in the Skippack settlement as opposed to the Pequea settlement in colonial Pennsylvania. But, I suspect you are Jacob Hege's line from Cocalico and Earl Townships of Lancaster County. Stay in touch.
