James HEFFELFINGER moved from Virginia to Missouri where he married (unknown) and had one son, William Crofford HEFFELFINGER B.1833. James and his son moved to Lamar Co., TX. James fought for the Independence of Texas (1836). On 1-22-1846, James married Ann BROWN and there were 5 children born from this marriage. James M. HEFFELFINGER b. 1847 married Mary Catherine (Kate) WOODARD b. 1849 on 7-27-1865 after fighting for the Confederacy. They moved to Parker Co., TX after marrying. In 1867, James M. was shot with a poison arrow by a group of renegade indians on his way to have flour milled at the grist mill in Weatherford, Tx. He made it home and a doctor was sent for, but the doctor would not come because of the renegade indians. Thus, James M. died, and Kate was 8 months pregnant with Mildred Evelyn (Minnie) HEFFELFINGER. Kate packed the wagon with their belongings and James' body and travelled back to Lamar Co. TX. She gave birth to Minnie 1-30-1868. Later that year in 1868 she died. Minnie never knew her father and mother since they died at ages 20 and 18. She was raised by her Grandfather James HEFFELFINGER. She married John Preston WEBB in Lamar Co. Tx 11-27-1894. John and Minnie WEBB moved to Hamilton Co, TX in late 1894 of early 1895. These two were my GGrandparents. If any one can provide information on James HEFFELFINGER B. 8-6-1807 in Virginia? or his parents and origin or his first wife in Missouri, I would really appreciate hearing from you. I would love to share more information on my WEBB line. Thanks to all.
