In 1852, Mr. Charles Heebner came to Lee, Mass.from Philadelphia and opened the Heebner marble quarry. Charles was a great negotiator and landed huge government contracts. His marble was used to build the Customs House in lower Manhattan, the State House Annex in' Boston, the base of the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. and for thousands of headstones at Arlington National Cemetery. One of my ancestors, John Dutcher b.1833, was a foreman in his quarry. I was hoping to find any Heebners here who might have more information on the quarry. Any clues would be a big help.
Thank you for your time,
Ron Dutcher
