Emanuel Heche Jr. purchased the brick store which still stands today in Vera Cruz from the George and Jess Weist in 1901. He also was the post master at the location and ran a huckster business. After ther death of Emanuel Heche in 1908, his daughter Alta ( Pearl) Heche Henneford became the post mistress. Her mother, Martha ran the store; brother,Harry was a clerk there.
Pearl Heche married on April 15, 1911 to Martin Henneford. Martin was born on September 5, 1883; he was the son of Michael Henneford; blacksmith of Vera Cruz, Indiana and Rosanna Biberstein Henneford. Martin and Pearl had two children a son, Donald and a daughter, Marjorie.
Martin raised hogs and also had a dairy farm He had an 80 acre farm near Vera Cruz, Indiana. Pearl was the post mistress until 1926; after her mother, Martha’s death. The store was then sold to Albert Steiner.
Rosanna Bibberstein was the sister to my great great grandfather Ferdinand Biberstein. Ferdinand ran a saw mill in Vera Cruz, Indiana
