Hi there. I am researching Asa HEBERD (spelling varies on documents, includes HEBARD and HIBBARD) Oct 3, 1755-1829. He was born in Windham, CT. He served in the 7th Reg't, CT under Col. Herman Swift. He fought at Germantown, wintered at Valley Forge, fought at Monmouth, then Redding, then White Plains, Morristown, then was assigned on the Upper Hudson at Camp Connecticut Village. His wife (m. Jan 1, 1783 Union College, Schenectady, NY) was Abigail ARMSTRONG (1762-1831, d. Leyden, MA) He appears to have lived his final years in Leyden, MA, where he was Elder of the Baptist church and justice of the peace. I descend from their daughter Lucy Melissa HEBERD/HEBARD/HIBBARD (1794-1871) who m. Nathaniel TYLER (1784-1853.) The family lived in Putney, VT at the time of Lucy's birth, moving to Leyden in 1800. I was hoping to locate information on the TYLER family, who seem to have passed through Leyden after a brief time. They were neighbors there; Peter TYLER posted about a horse who broke through a fence in 1808, giving Leyden as his home address. I cannot tell if that was the same Peter who m. Eunice HEBARD in 1811 (could have been his father?) I suspect Peter marrying Eunice was how Lucy met Nathaniel. I cannot prove they were brothers, can't speak of their parents in any documents although online trees link them as brothers and list parents (all list mother as Lois WAKEFIELD, but she didn't marry her Peter TYLER until after both Peter and Nathaniel were born.) I hope posting this will bring new information to light.
