My son-in-law Chad Hazel is related to you and to Vivian who responded a few days ago. He descends from Roy Hazel who is another of Homer's brothers. The information I have on Homer Hazel is in my ancestry tree "Thomas Dorman Ancestry". Vivian recently contacted me also. I have hit a brick wall with determining who the father of John Milton Hazel. From census records we know he is from Germany but that is all I have found for certain - I'm not even sure of his name although somewhere along the line I found something that led me to believe his name could be Pius. Relatives here cannot provide me with any further info. I do live in Marshall Michigan, Homer's birthplace, so if you hit upon something that could be researched here let me know.

I am new to this. Just started a week ago. Homer Hazel was my uncle...I have birth and death dates of whole family. William John Hazel was my father. He coached his brother Homer. I've seen the Hall of Fame at Rutgers...Homer is in it. Check Marshall newspaper the Marshall Community Advisor, October 27, 1993 for a great article on Homer Hazel. It is 8 or 9 years ago - I am wondering if you are still looking or have found what you want to know!

I am trying to find out about their father, and his father who came from Germany.

I talked to her about your post and she's notified Christian and Gretchen, but i'm going to leave it up to her whether she decides to contact you on her own.

My father James Frederick Hazel passed in 1965 so I do not have much information.
He was born 20 July 1911 in Kenton, DE to James Hazel and Cora Fredericks. He never used Jr., so i do not know if he was a junior.

He had one sister Mildred who married Clarence Rusby.

My mother, Gertrude Winifred Hazel was born 7 April 1912 in Nutley, NJ to Henry Benjamin Eckerson and Emily Post (not the famous one). She passed away in 1996 @ 84.

Social Security has my father as being born in the mid 1920's in NJ. I do know he attended an engineering school there. And his mother settled in West Caldwell with his sister.

My father was a Flying Tiger in China and stayed as a civil engineer after they were disbanded when WW2 started.

There is a family burial plot in Kenton, DE. Kenton is a settlement SW of Smyrna, DE.

Hi.
So far we have not come across a Clinton Hazel. Our family are from Cork, Ireland but we do have some connection in Waterbury. My GG Grandfather Richard Hazel lived in Cork all his life although he was in Waterbury as he got married there and had his first child William there. We also believe his brother Robert lived there and died there. We also found a passenger list record for my G Grandfather Christy Hazel who was going to Waterbury to visit his sister but we can't really make out her name.
Are any of your Hazel's from Cork, Ireland?

well since he is Black..and considering the time period and east coast.. your best best would be to look at slave schedules.. let me see if there are any names on the slave schedules
There were Hazel slave owners in virginia.. but I also found this

1930 United States Federal Census about Victor Hazel
Name:	Victor Hazel
Gender:	Male
Birth Year:	abt 1881
Birthplace:	Virginia
Race:	Negro (Black)
[Black]
Home in 1930:	Manhattan, New York, New York
View Map
Marital Status:	Married
Relation to Head of House:	Head
Spouse's Name: Edith Hazel
Father's Birthplace:	Virginia
Mother's Birthplace:	Virginia
Occupation:

Education:

Military Service:

Rent/home value:

Age at first marriage:

Parents' birthplace:

View image
Neighbors:	View others on page
Household Members:
Name	Age
Victor Hazel	49
Edith Hazel	43
Richard O Boyce	38
Charles Newton	56
View
Original
Record
I did find it interesting that edith is listed as Black but her parents were from England..especially during that time period

If both of Victors parents were from Virginia back in 1850 & 1860.. athere is a great possibility they were slaves.. as I said earlier there were Slave owners with the last name of hazel in Virginia during that time..

here is another possibility.. since the people living with him as lodgers were from the islands.. maybe he wasn't from virginia.. but actually the virgin islands..close to the words virginia

1920 United States Federal Census about Victor Hagel
Name:	Victor Hagel
[Victor Hazel]
Age:	39
[32]
Birth Year:	abt 1881
[abt 1888]
Birthplace:	Virgin Islands
[St Auman Irland Virgirl Islanda]
Home in 1920:	Trenton Ward 4, Mercer, New Jersey
Race:	Black
Gender:	Male
Relation to Head of House:	Prisoner
Marital Status:	Married
Father's Birthplace:	St Auman Irland Virgirl Islanda
Mother's Birthplace:	St Auman Irland Virgirl Islanda
Able to read:	Yes
Able to Write:	Yes
Neighbors:	View others on page

I am a black female Hazell living in the U.K - originated from stock in Barbados. Trying to trace my two great uncles who went to live in the USA with their father Mr. Hazell in the 1920s. Mr Hazell worked on a ship(not sure of rank but his uniform was white shirt and white shorts). Some of the family members originally spelt the name Hazel/Hazell/Hassell.

I know this is an old reply but I am related to Mahala Ann Hall born 1807 in Wayne Co Ky, who married Felix Grundy Burkhead in Breckinridge Co Kentucky in 1833. Mahala's parents are listed as Nancy Hanks b1780 and Levi Hall b1780. There is a Nancy Hanks listed to have married a Levi Hall about 1800 She gave birth to the infamous Dennis Friend Hanks born in Hardin Cnty KY on 5/15/99 fathered by a man named ? Friend. Nancy and Levi had 3 children listed as Jim, Squire and William and all but Squire married Hanks women. I'm just trying to find out if you have children listed to those of the Levi Hall you mentioned? Nowhere have I been able to find siblings of Mahala's. It would be great if these two were indeed her parents because that would make her 1/2 brother Dennis Friend Hanks the cousin to Lincoln as proven in many history books. Thanks for any help.
In an 1886 newspaper article on the Rice Family Reunion in Cheshire, Connecticut, one of the guests listed is "Miss Fanny Hazel" of New Haven, Connecticut. I have connected most guests to the extended Rice/Royce family, but can not find a connection for Fanny. Other families listed in the article are Munson, Greenslit, Hitchcock, French, Burke, Pardee, Bradley, King and Parker. I would appreciate any information on the connection between Fanny and these families.

dont know about William Paris but my great great grandfather Veniah Hazle, born in Ohio, moved to Pulaski/Fulton/Marshall County area of Indiana. His father was also a William.
I am searching info to identify William's father and mother. William also had a brother, Alexander B. Hazel. Both brothers and parents were born in Maryland and these brothers were orphaned by approximately 1815. They were taken from MD to OH to live with people who I do not know the identity of. If there is ANY remote possibility that my William and YOUR Willliam are somehow intertwined, I would LOVE to see your pictures. Also, if you have any other info on any other Hazels, please let me know. My Veniah Hazel produced daughter Mary Alice Hazel who produced John Decker.
