I have a great aunt named Sarah Knupp who was born around 1867 in Ohio to Henry Knupp and Margaret Shank. She married a Charles Hawley on March 10, 1898 in Wood County, West Virginia. I found a copy of the actual marriage certificate.
I would like to learn more about the Hawley ancestry and maybe even locate some living Hawley's who I believe would be cousins to me. I know that Charles and Sarah had five children. Three boys - all deceased and two girls.
Joseph Brady Hawley born February 13, 1899 in Meigs County, Ohio; died January 1972 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
William Pete Hawley born May 5, 1901 in Meigs County, Ohio; died April 23, 1997 in Tallmadge, Summit County, Ohio.
James R. Hawley born March 27, 1903 in Meigs County, Ohio; died August 31, 1959 in Bloominggrove, Richland County, Ohio.
Ruth Hawley born about 1906 in Ohio. In 1930 - the last record I have for her - she was living in Cuyahoga Falls, Summit County, Ohio.
Anna Hawley born about 1909 in Ohio. In 1930 - the last record I have for her - she was living in Cuyahoga Falls, Summit County, Ohio.
That is all I know about the Hawley line.
You also wrote in another message about Hoyt H. Knupp. He was my uncle although he was the only uncle I never met. He went missing after he and his wife Bertha Virginia Scott divorced (or separated?) sometime between 1944 and 1960. Up until 1944 Hoyt was known to have lived in Wood County, West Virginia. Family legend has it that after Hoyt and Bertha separated that Hoyt may have gone to Ohio to live with relatives. No one knows what happened to him after that.
Any source material you could point me to regarding Hoyt H. Knupp would be GREATLY appreciated.
Again, thank you for replying.
