Some quick census checks turns up this for a Clarence Hassinger who was the right age in the household of Walter S. Hassinger in 1880. A google search found this little nugget on the Rootsweb archives. Hope it gives you something to go on.

David Hassinger of Newville to Miss Catharine D. Gibson, daughter of
Francis Gibson, Esq. of Tyrone Township, Perry County. The American
Volunteer, Thursday, Sept. 24, 1829. jf. [Note: An obituary from 1928 at
the Perry Historians: "Walter Scott Hassinger, son of Rev. David and
Catherine (Gibson) Hassinger was born Jan 1, 1845 and died Jan 22,
[illegible] at the Graduate School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania,
Philadelphia, death being caused by intestinal nephritis. He was a former
resident of Shermansdale and a cousin of the late James K. Gibson. His
first wife, Emma Snowball, died about 50 years ago and he later married
Elizabeth Jones, who survivies him with three children from the first
marriage and two from the second, namely: Walter S., Pomona, NJ; Jennie,
Mrs. Geo. Morrison, Audubon, NJ; Clarence N., Oak Lane, Philadelphia, with
whom he made his home. The other two are Margaret, Mrs. George Althouse,
and Winfield, both of Philadelphia. He had seven brothers and sister, all
dead except one,... Burial ws at Shermansdale Thursday afternoon. Rev. T.
D. Ritter, U.P. minister, officiated. Rev. Yarnall, a presbyterian pastor
had.....services in Phila.]"
