I found at family search the marriage of Hugo Hartmann and Lina Rothschild in Manhattan New York in 1897. Lina was daughter of Nathan Rothschild and Augusta Meyer, born in Pforzheim, Germany and my grandfather´s sister. According to Family search Hugo was son of Jacob Hartman and Phillifinia Kaul (it can be a spelling mistake). I wish to find the descendants of Hugo and Lina Hartman.
Sandra
São Paulo, Brazil

Peter Hartman b 1771 to 1775 Rowan Co, NC? d >1840 Carroll Co, KY?

My Peter Hartman/Hardman was born between 1771 and 1775. He may have been born in Rowan Co, NC as it appears to has been his home as a young man and his daughters Anna and Delilah were born there according to US FED CEN reports. (He could have been born somewhere else and moved to NC as a young man.) I don't know who his parents were, but there were some Hartman/Hardman families in Rowan Co, NC during the time period of Peter's birth. It appears that this Peter Hartman married about 1802 and began having a family. Then there is another possible marriage in 1810 to a woman named Liza Agner. In all, Peter appears to have fathered 12 children. Between 1820 and 1830 Peter moved his family to Carroll Co, KY where he lived til at least 1840. His date of death and place of burial are unknown.

I would appreciate any help or hint.

Hello Barb,
Ann Selma Hartmann was the second wife of my Great Great Grandfather, Peter Hartmann Sr. Peter had five children with my GG Grandmother, Josephine Zimmermann. He had four children with Ann Selma Hartwig. I don't have much more on Ann, except her father was Hy Hartwig (taken from her death certificate). Please do inquire of your mother-in-law. My home email is: kenrickantique@att.net.

The Anna Krawiecki is a very distant one. I tend to "extend" my tree's as far as I can go with them, so many people in my tree are related by marriages only.

Thanks and have a great day,
Diana Rantz Baker

Re: Hartman, Hazel

The confusing thing is that my mother and her siblings tell different versions of information about their grandmother. What I do know from the census is that supposedly she was listed as wife to Andy Lutes. Hazel had 3 children according to the census at different times: Robert, Viola, and Richard. So, I believe she was married to Andy at one point and took the last name Lutes. However, I assume her maiden name was Hartman because she went by that also. What I am really trying to find out is how to get orphanage records because I am hoping that tells the real story of what happened with Hazel and her children and their father (which might be different biological fathers, but I'm not sure). Any help is appreciated.
Warmest Regards,
Jodi Lange
great granddaughter of Hazel

Source for obituary:
San Francisco Examiner, Sunday, December 25, 1927, page 8

CA Death Index:
Hartman, Gustave, age 61 years, spouse "LB", died 12/24/1927 in San Francisco, CA
=======================
The San Diego Union: Monday Morning, December 26, 1927

Former Senator Dies in Bay City

San Francisco, Dec. 25
Gus Hartman, 61, for 16 years a member of the California state senate, died late last night after a long illness.

Hartman studied law in St. Louis, but becoming interested in baseball, joined the professional ranks, and came to California 35 years ago to play on a San Francisco team. After quitting the diamond, he was associated in a law firm here.

Hartman introduced into the senate in 1910 a bill against what he termed baseball player's "The slavery of the trust." He declared himself the enemy of organized baseball. His bill, however, failed to get out of committee. Although an ardent fight fan, he once introduced a bill prohibiting prize fights, and declared at the time that all the big fights had been faked. The bill also failed to pass.

Hartman is survived by his widow, two sons, and a daughter. Funeral services will be held Tuesday.
So glad to hear from you. Long time. You used to make CD's of the SC wills that I was interested in. I had purchased a few back some time ago but needed others that were in your collection. I have since moved from SC to Washington State and am not actively researching at the moment. But will soon. I was interested in wills around Marion County, Williamsburg County and others, I already purchased the ones you did of Kershaw and Darlington.

After congratulations and a social hour, refreshments were served.
The happy couple left at 5 o'clock amid a shower of rice, for a short stay in San Diego, after which will be La Jolla, and visit other points in the state, returning to Longmont about the first of February and making their home on the farm.
Marvin L. Hartman Sr. 1936-2012

MORROW COUNTY: Marvin L. Hartman Sr., age 76, of Northern Morrow County, Ohio died Saturday evening, September 29, 2012, at the Morrow County Hospital following an extended illness.

On March 15, 1936, Marvin was born in Zanesville, Ohio, the son of the late Arthur and Thelma (Harper) Hartman.
He grew up in Duncan Falls, Ohio and attended Philo High School.

Following high school, Marvin enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. to serve with his fellow countrymen in the Korean Conflict.
He had been stationed in Korea, serving as an infantryman towards the end of the war, after the peace treaty had been signed and there was still police action.

After his honorable discharge, Marvin returned home to be with his high school sweetheart, Shelby Confer. They were married soon thereafter on September 1, 1956 in Duncan Falls, Ohio.

As a family, Marvin and Shelby moved to Morrow County in 1965 for work. After working a few other jobs, Marvin found a home at the Marion Power Shovel, where he worked as a welding supervisor for 24 years until his retirement in 1997.

The saying "you can take the boy from the farm, but you can't take the farm from the boy" was certainly true with Marvin. After his retirement, one of his favorite pastimes was tending to his small 10 acre farm at his home, where he bailed hay and grew a vegetable garden "as big as he could make it". He also enjoyed caring for and watching his horses there.

After his health prohibited him from being able to farm, Marvin surprised his entire family when he started helping in the kitchen, learning to cook for the first time. He enjoyed helping Shelby make cookies and trying new recipes.

A sports fanatic, Marvin was an avid Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns fan. He especially enjoyed watching and rooting for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making it to as many of their games as he could. He coached little league baseball for many years.

Despite having strong opinions, anyone who knew Marvin knew he was a deeply caring and giving man. And most important of all to Marvin was his family, he always said his greatest accomplishment was his family and he reminded them as often as he could just how proud he was of all of them.

Marvin will be dearly missed by his wife, Shelby Hartman of Galion, Ohio; five children: Michael (Cindy) Hartman of Marion, Ohio, Melody (Marty) King of Ashville, Ohio, Marvin (Gerry) Hartman Jr., Mark Hartman, Myron (Tammy) Hartman, all three of Mount Gilead, OH; ten grandchildren: Amy Fisher, John (Sara), Erik, and Luke Diosi, Evan (Lauren) Hartman, Eli Hartman, Lance and Kendra Hartman, and John and Daniel Brewer; and seven great-grandchildren.

Including his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Hartman; and a brother, Jerry Hartman.

The Hartman family will greet friends from 4 - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 S. Main St., Mount Gilead.
Services honoring his life will also be held there at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, with Pastor T. J. McNew III of the Fresh Faith Community Church officiating.
Burial with military honors will follow in Bloomfield Cemetery near Sparta, OH.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Marvin L. Hartman Sr. Scholarship Fund, and they may be sent in care of the funeral home.

Snyder Funeral Homes of Mount Gilead is honored to have been chosen to serve Marvin's family and your private condolences may be expressed to them by visiting www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.

Published in the Marion Star on October 2, 2012

Muskingum

Dear Dude416,
Although the family Bible shows her name to be "Margaret Hartman" the Orphans Court records show clearly that she was Margaret Hartman Ralston, daughter of James Ralston, b. Mar 7, 1785 - d. July 10, 1844; and Catharine Hartman, b. May 5, 1792 - d.1861. I can send those records.

Email me at ejeter@san.rr.com if you want her ancestors. I am descended from Mary Malissa Clemens, 1851-1940, daughter of Jacob Clemens 1817-1904 and Margaret Hartman Ralston. I have a photo of James Ralston Clemens taken in 1930, if you are interested in having a copy of it. Yes, we are third cousins, I believe.

Unfortunately, I do not know the parents of Margaret Hartman Ralston, however, because I am a descendant of James Ralston Clemens (great grandfather) I have researched children of Margaret Hartman and Jacob Hipple Clemens. Do you need birth/death dates or marriage records for children of Margaret Hartman Ralston?
