Problem: the Lewis Harter who married Mary Jane Flora was born in 1845. It is a bit difficult for him to be the person referenced in an 1820 journal.

I will suggest that Mag Harter was Magdalena Harter, daughter of David Harter. She would have been 11 years old in 1820 and was probably visiting a child of David Bower after Sunday School and Church. This also supports my guess that your Lew Harter was probably her six year old brother. I apparently have incorrect information about how early David Harter moved his family to Carroll County.
