My understanding is that the Licking County, Ohio, Harters probably derive from one of the Harters who arrived during the mid-1800s German immigration. A family photo from Basil would tend to support this. Mary's Harter family derive from an Andraes Harter who arrived around 1750. My ancestor also arrived about this time.
