If you've hit a brick wall on your Harmon genealogy, you might want to consider joining our Harmon Surname DNA Project that is conducted through Family Tree DNA. I am a volunteer that heads up the Harmon/Harman surnames. If you are a male with the Harmon or Harman surname, you can take part. Or if you are female and have a brother, father, male cousin, etc. with the Harmon/Harman surname, try to get them to join. For more information contact me at CathyHrmon@aol.com

Hi Carol, thanks for the message. Does this mean I can give your e-mail out to our participants? We have about 26. Most will be interested in what you have, some won't as they know their line came from Germany. Do you have any male relatives with the Harmon last name that would be interested in taking the DNA test? Please let me know. You can contact me directly at CathyHrmon@aol.com if you would like. Thanks!
Cathy

Cathy - I was fortunate that I found my Harmon lineage back into the 1700s in Virginia. Found direct ties to James Harmon and Philadelphia Dickerson. still looking for my father's siblings. Claude Harmon (father, b1893, Boone county, Indiana). My father was Pleasant Dale Harmon (b. 1926, D. 1983). I wish someone could actually help, but if I can assist on the DNA project, let me know.

Cathy, what does the DNA project involve. My husband is a direct descendant of John Lincoln Harmon and Elizabeth Mary Byrd (Bird). I could probably talk him into it.

Hi Peggy, the DNA project is for genealogy purposes only. The test is very simple, just requires the swabbing of the inside of the cheeks in 2 stages. If you join our Harmon/Harmon project, he can order the kit at our discount rates. This is all conducted through Family Tree DNA. I am only a volunteer. (My husband is a Harmon also). It has really been helpful to those of us that have hit a brick wall. Let me know if you want more information and I can send it to you. The 12-marker kits are only $99.

Hi. I've been seeking information on my grand father Clifford Harmon and other Harmons from Somerset County, MD. I would like to have my father or brother participate in the DNA project.

HI! Joining the Family Tree DNA Project is a great way to discover more about your Harmon family line. E-mail me at CathyHrmon@aol.com and give me a little info on your MD line. Notice there is no "a" in Harmon in the above e-mail. I can send you a join notice where you can order the y-chromosome kit for a male relative to test. It just requires swabbing the inside of the cheeks and you send the kit back to FTDNA.
