My grandmother, Bertha, was born in Washington county in 1869. They moved north to the Town of Agena, east of Butternut in Ashland county when she was very young. She married my grandfather, Henry Wegner and they lived just a few miles away. Her brother, John, lived on the home place. They had a brother, Henry, who moved to Cloquet, MN and a sister, Hattie, who lived in Mosinee, WI and had the married name of Jensen. They did come from Germany, but I don't know the place of origin.
Someone from the Mosinee area had started some research several decades ago, but I lost the name.
