Mary Evelyn Larue Hallmark born September 5, 1867 in Tennessee

Mary Evelyn Larue Hallmark is my Great-Grandmother. She married John Allen Hallmark in 1895, at that time, she lived in Salem, Arkansas. After she married, they moved many times living in these Arkansas towns: Delware, Martin, Jackson, and Burke, finally ending up in the Oak Hill Community in Liver River County around by Ashdown. Her children were Emily, Lillie, Mae, Rosetta, Annie, and Andrew. I think she had a couple of step children, too, one was a Susan Hallmark.

I am looking for Great-Grandmother's parents. Mary was of mixed heritage, Cherokee and White, she always claimed white, but her Native American heritage is shown in her face and those of her children. It seems like she just dropped out of the sky when she married John Allen Hallmark, because I cannot find her before this. Her father may have been a Levi Thomas Larue, but I cannot confirm this, and I have no clue as to her mother. Would greatly appreciate any information.

I'm not asking to confirm her Native American Heritage, I'm inquiring into her parentage and mentioned it to add to the chance of her identification. This is what I'm trying to find, her parent's names. Thank you.
I was wondering if either of you might know of any adoptions that took place between the Hallmark's and Willett family back in the early 1800's in Marion County, AL? The Willetts having adopted any Hallmarks's that is? I have been told by my Aunt that my Willwtt branch was originally Hallmarks.
If any of this rings a bell or you havee heard talk or seen records concerning this pleease let me know at hboforlife@gmail.com ,
Thanks
Heather

Hazel, I am in search of information about a relative that appears to be the daughter of Jasper N and Amanda Hallmark, I am finding the usage of her name on Cencus documents as Dinah Ida Hallmark, Ida Hallmark, and even Ida Marion Hallmark, (even a phot of her late in life with some of the Jasper/Amanda children at a family reunion), but haven't found any document officially stating her as their daughter- do you know anything about her? I am wondering if perhaps she was adopted? Thank you in advance!

Candy, this is all that I have on Jacob Ringer and his wife, Nancy:

Jacob Ringer b. abt 1810 Florida, d. after 1841. Married Nancy ?? (last name unknown)and (about whose families little is known.) b. abt 1813 in Alabama. Don't have a date of marriage for Nancy and Jacob. Jacob was born in the first decade of the 1800's in Florida. Nancy was born about 1813 in Alabama. They probably married in Alabama and moved with SON Isaac Sylvester from MONROE Co., Alabama to Arkansas in the early 1830's. Jacob was apparently a Frenchman who owned a plantation with several slaves. He was the captain of a ship and was frequently gone, and Nancy ran the plantation with the slaves' help. During the 1830's several more children were born to them including Amanda. Some time after 1841 Jacob apparently died. Nancy remarried in 1849 and moved to Texas that same year.

Nancy, now about 36 years old married William FORD, a 39 year-old Baptist minister also from Arkansas, and they moved to Fayette Co., Texas probably along with the family of Jacob Neal, another Baptist minister from Arkansas. SON William was born to William and Nancy in 1850. They probably lived in the western part of Fayette Co., near the Bastrop Co., line. in this area Jasper and Amanda would have had opportunity to meet. It is unclear what then happened to Nancy and William, but they disappear from the scene. Perhaps they suddenly died. Whatever the CASE, their move to Texas framed the future for their children.
I obtained this information from Mike MCWILLIAMS of Dallas, Texas (mikemcw@sbcglobal.net)-contact him and see if he has more information. If you receive more info please send me a copy? Hope this helps--Jack (theshadowknz@comcast.net)

Re: James Milton Hallmark and Tabitha Adeline Barnes

Laura Jane,
James Milton Hallmark was my great-great grandfather. I recently found that he was issued a 640 acre Mexican land grant in ~1835 in Montgomery Cty, TX. I am curious if this is a fact as he would have been only 18 at that time. My great grandmother was Mary Tabitha Hallmark. I live in Conroe which is not far from where I "think" his 640 acres was located (Danville). There are some factors that lead me to believe that I may this all wrong.
Dave Smith
