I really applauad and thank you for your efforts in photographing all these head stones.

I also hope you are adding them to findagrave.com as that is where I head first for headstone information. Unless people know or can find your web site information...I'm afraid it could be missed.

For those of you that haven't used this web site much...I have seen some great genealogies on these entries. You can leave flowers, your condolances AND any genealogy information.

If you do find an ancestor or relative on findagrave.com make sure to add any "family history" to that entry. You never know who may see it down the road.

Carolyn

Susana Rutha SMITH, born 30 April 1840 in KY, TN or TX;Daughter of John SMITH

Rutha, as she was called all of her adult life, is my Ggramma.
She is found on the 1860 Lavaca County, TX Census as Susan SMITH living with with James T and Malona (HALL) WILSON.
In the July 1858 Lavaca County Court of Estates, James T WILSON is appointed as guardian of "Susana Rutha SMITH, daughter of John SMITH and wife, deceased".
I believe John SMITH's wife is the sister of Malona(HALL) WILSON.
Malona HALL is the daughter of Berriman and Margaret HALL.
Berriman and Margaret appear on the 1830 Greene County and 1840 Sumpter County, AL.
It is likely that this is the same piece of property. In 1830, The Choctaw ceded this area to the USA in the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek. The HALL's lived here before this treaty was signed.
On these two census, there are two daughters that are about Malona's age.
I have been unable to find this HALL daughter on any 1850 census.
Rutha married Elijah Thomas WILSON, Malona and James nephew after he returned as a disabled CSA veteran. They were probably married in 1867 at the Salam Baptist Church In Lavaca County.
They are the owners of property adjacent to Malona on the 1870 Lavaca County census. They sold this property and bought another parcel from Elijah's father William WILSON in the 1880's but I have not found them on any 1880 census.
Any help finding this "John SMITH and wife" would help me break throught my family brick wall.
Thanks for your consideration.
Ed Antonette

Hall Mystery

I've been working on the Jesse Hall(1825-1903 KY)-Mahalia Knight(1839-1904KY) line for a couple of years now and cannot figure out who the parents of Jesse Hall were. This Hall family is from Butler/Logan counties in Kentucky. The only hints at the parents of Jesse are: his father was born in Virginia (according to multiple census records) and his mother was born in Kentucky. So.. I can only challenge you pros out there to see if you can solve the mystery!

Link to a census with them on it:

http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?indiv=1&db=18...

BBC looking for relatives of Dr Lloyd Augustus Hall - eminent chemist

To whom it may concern.

I am working on a new BBC documentary and am looking for any relatives of the eminent chemist Dr Lloyd Augustus Hall (June 20, 1894 - January 2, 1971). Dr Hall contributed to the field of food preservation and amassed 59 US patents in his lifetime.

In 1919 he married Myrrhene Newsome and I think they adopted two children Dorothy and Kenneth. He was born in Elgin, Illinois and died in Pasadena, California.

We are looking to celebrate this man's achievements and would be very keen to speak to any of his relatives or even anyone that knew him. There is no requirement to appear in any programme. I would be grateful if anyone with information could get in touch on rebecca@plumpictures.co.uk or 02071846777.

Regards

Rebecca

I'm looking for information on James Hall (b. 1751??? in Virginia). He moved to S. C., served in Revolutionary War, was wounded and left with crippled right hand. He moved to Buncombe Co., N.C. and then to Harlan Co. or Knox Co. Kentucky. He was a preacher. He married while living in N.C. to Elizabeth Sousby (or Susby) who was much younger. They had several children. After his death, she move to Arkansas with some of her children. She later remarried and moved to Texas. Our family history states that James had a son William who was from an earlier marriage while James was in S.C. William moved to Tenn. and settled there about the time that James moved to Kentucky which was the early 1800s. Do you have any information on Kentucky Halls? Thanks.
After James married Elizabeth Sousby, they had several children including Anthony Hall. He moved to Benton Co. Arkansas (with his mother after his father's death) and then later moved to Barry Co. Missouri. I am trying to research his children as several of them married into my family. His known children are: James b. 1832 Ky, Allen, b. 1833 Ky, Martha b. abt 1835 Ky., Rachel b. abt 1837 Ky, Elisha b. 1838 Ky, Elijah b. 1839 Ky, Robert b. 1840 in Ky, and Nancy Elen b. 1842 in Ky.
Most of his children also moved to Benton Co. Ark. when Anothony did and then later moved to Barry Co Mo. when Anthony moved there. I would appreciate any information on his children or Anthony.

I'm looking for a source for the birth of Susannah Hall to Stephen Hall and Ruth Davis. I can find births of other children to Stephen Hall and Ruth Davis Hall in Concord and Stow, but nothing on Susannah Hall. Can you help by providing source details?

Also looking for source information on her death as well as death of her husband John Smith. I'm related thru grand daughter of Susannah Hall and John Smith, Hannah SMith (1742-1830)

Susan, Cincinnati Ohio

Clarence Hall

Okay, I have all but given up.
I am looking for any information on:
Clarence Hall b: Dec 26, 1915 Johnson Kentucky
d: Jan 30, 1986 Charlotte Tennessee
My cousin Ernie Lee Hall is Clarence's son. Clarence was married to his mother, Lola Belle Deason. Ernie was told at one time that Clarence had been married before Lola and had 3 other sons. Other than that he never mentioned anything else, including ex wife's name or other children's names. Ernie would love some info on the other sons. I have been searching but it seems useless. I kind of think his mother was Mary Chaffins but I am not sure if this is correct and I cannot find anything else. Lola passed away when Ernie was young and left him and 2 brothers. I would love to find out if these brothers do exsist and if they may still be alive. If anyone has any information, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thanking you in advance,
Jeanie
I've done a lot of work as coordinator for the Lineage I group of the Brandon DNA Project since I wrote that message. I'm afraid you have mixed up two different couples with the same names. The LDS database also merges them.

My John and Mary Hall Brandon of Westmoreland and Indiana Counties, PA:
Thomas and Martha Brandon out of Fermanagh to NJ, parents
John Hall and (unproven) Margaret Nesbitt (there's a marriage on an early list - it MIGHT be them), her parents

See my tree here:
http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/b/r/a/Sally-A-Bra...

John and Mary Hall Brandon of Huntington Twp, York-now-Adams Co, PA:
George and Unknown Brandon parents
James and Mary Brandon grandparents
John and Mary Armstrong Brandon assumed g-grandparents

Their tree here:
http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/b/r/a/Sally-A-Bra...

If you're off John Brandon sheriff of Westmoreland County, etc. I'd love to correspond and add your downstream data. I'm off Sam Rutherford Brandon! Dave Steindel is the Hall expert my Dad was working with and I kept up correspondence with him for a while. He's off one of Mary Hall Brandon's brothers.

Best,
Sally Brandon

PA 1700s Hall Brandon Locke Rutherford

My brick wall stands firm at John Brandon b. 1753 (Ireland or PA? Presbyterian) and wife Mary Hall b.1765 of John Hall and Margaret Nesbitt Hall, so I'm pursuing associated families.
They maried in Mt. Pleasant, PA in 1781 and gave their sons the middle names of Hall (understandable), Locke and Rutherford.
I hope to find that John or Mary's sisters or brothers married into the Locke and Rutherford clans (I'm stymied by undocumented claims for Brandon siblings William and Mary Ann -doubtful ones - and unresearched Hall siblings - William, John, Robert, Margaret, David, Samuel, James and Jane, all b.~1755-1770), as the pattern for honoring in-laws is carried on for several generations.
The Halifax, VA and Rowan Co, NC links come just a bit later and involve a group of Brandons who headed south while our John (would LOVE to know what relation) and Mary lived, fought, raised a family and died in Cumberland, Westmoreland and Armstrong Co's, PA.
Is anyone researching this Hall family? Is anyone related to Mary's siblings who may give me a jumpstart to move further?
What I'd do for a time machine!!
Thanks in advance.
Sally Brandon

I haven't failed, I've found 10,000 ways that don't work.--Ben Franklin

Let's talk about "Brandon" So far,I have over 300 people out of Patrick Brandon and Anne Kenny of Killasolan, Co Galway. Their ten children were born in the mid-1800's. Am trying to find out more about Patrick's siblings, etc. Reason I'm in Hall is that my husband was adopted in Hartford CT, DOB 6-1-51 and I'm trying to locate the birth mother, maybe her name is Florence and she had a 7 yr old boy and a 2yr old girl at the time of my husband's birth. Anyway, hope to hear from you soon.

Controversy around Laban Hall b. 1755 Peekskill NY

I am researching the Hall line that goes back through the above Laban Hall to his father, presumably Christopher Hall b. 1723 Attleboro and Sarah Peck.

My line goes through Laban to his son Joseph who married (1) Mary Chidester and (2) Joanna Challis. My gggrandfather was Joseph and Mary's son Marvin Chidester Hall to his son, William Wallis Hall, to his daughter Laura Allice Hall, to her son LJ Auten, etc.

My confusion is Laban. It is fairly well documented that he had at least 3 wives: 1st - Olive Geer m. 1780 (divorced); 2nd - Lucy Eddy m.1810 (died?); 3rd - Marcy Colton Daggett m. after 1818.

But, my ggg grandfather was the son of Laban Hall and his wife Mary Partridge, who must have married him before 1782 when Joseph was born.

Does this mean that there is a 2nd Laban Hall born in 1755 in Peekskill NY who has been confused with the multiple-married Laban? or did our Laban have 4 wives?

Is there anyone out there who can sort this one out or add any useful information? I'd be delighted to provide any data on the Marvin Chidester line that any interested persons may wish, and that I have (including civil war service and photos...)

Thanks, nancy

PA 1700s Hall Brandon Locke Rutherford

Sally,

One of my sources is David Steindel, of which he & I are cousins. John Hall, Sr., & Margaret Nesbitt had several sons. One was John Hall, Jr., my direct line descendent. David is a direct line descendent of one of those sons, Samuel Hall. Another Hall cousin that I found is a direct line descendent of still another brother, James Hall.

So, if you're related to David, you're related to me as well.

Regards,
Robert
Hi Sally,

I am descendent of your mentioned Mary Hall, who married John Brandon. Yes, her parents were John Hall, Sr., & Margaret Nesbitt. John Brandon's parents were John Brandon & Mary Sadler. This John Brandon's parents was James Brandon & Mary Armstrong.

But yes, I am mainly researching my Hall Family Roots. But, as I find Hall cousins who have done extensive research on our family, including those families that have married into our family, I try to add them over time.

Let me know if you require more information. I was lazy & didn't include all dates (have to run, sorry), but I do know they are one in the same.

Regards,
Robert
