I'll try again. This afternoon a thunderstorm was brewing and I wanted to shut down my computer.
In my research I have found two major Hagan families in Mississippi. One is located in the Yazoo area and the other in the Kemper-Newton area. There are many similar names in both families but I have yet to find a connection between the two families.
I am descended from the family that settled in the Kemper- Newton area.
My early records are from an old family bible.
James Richard Hagan was born in Virginia 12 Sept 1812. A cousin doing research said it was the part of VA that is now West Virginia but I have no proof.
On 14 July 1836 in Sumter County, Alabama he married Rebecca Martin. I have the Sumter County record. Died 28 Feb 1881 in Union, Newton County MS. ( Go to the Find a Grave web site and search the Union Cemetery in Newton County MS for a picture of the tombstones of James and Rebecca)
