I am looking for the decendents of Carl and Dorothea Haack. Carl was born 3-9-1824 in Prussia. They came to the US in 1855 with 2 brothers, Wilhelm and Joseph, and 2 sisters, names unknown. 3 of their children were Aughust, Dorothea, and Wilhelm F. Wilhelm changed the spelling of the last name from Haack to Haak. He was married twice, his second wife was Marie C. Sanftleben. They had 7 children, Walter, twins Ralph and Raymond, Elmer, Hilda, Russell J., and Gilson. Carl and his wife settled in Middleton, WI. My daughter is the grandaughter of Russell J. I hope someone can help.

Hello Vicki-

I have some info on this Haack family, although I'm
not descended from them. My great-grandfather,
John Krei, of Wayne, NE, married a woman named
Wilhelmine (Minnie or Minna) Haack in Howard,
South Dakota in 1898. She was his second wife.
His brother, Fred Krei, had married a woman
named Anna Haack in Clayton County, IA in 1874.
I believe Minnie and Anna were related, but not
sisters (as there is conflicting info on
parentage of those two.) Last year I traveled
up to Howard to do some research and talked
to some Haacks/Haaks that live there. One of
them gave me a handwritten history of this
family, from Germany to Middleton to Howard.
I have just a little about Carl but more
about his brothers William, Joe, and their sisters.
This was supposedly copied from the Centennial
History book of Middleton, WI 1848-1948. If you'd
like a copy of this let me know. We're trying
to find more on these Haacks as well. I would be
interested in corresponding with you. You can
respond here or directly to me at: coxsteven@usa.net
I'll be gone for a week or so but will get back to you.

Do you know where in Prussia they came from? My great, great-grandmother was a Haack from Robe in Pomerania, and I'm reviewing the LDS Church microfilm of this town. I've seen the names Carl and Dorothea, but they may not be yours.

Sorry, but we have no idea where in Prussia my daughter's family came from. Her grandpa was going to try to trace them back over to there, but was told that with all the damage done to records during the war, that it would cost a fortune and he probably would not be able to find out much. So he never tried it. Thanks, anyway.

I have a g-g-grandfather named aughust haack. He was married to Constance Lange Marshall Haack. They had a child whom I believe was adopted named Charles Joseph Marshall who was married to Ida (Maiden name Brett) Marshall from England. They had 7 children Charles Brett, James Howard Marshall, Carl Phillip Marshall, Carolyn Lee Marshall, Jerelyn Sue Marshall, John Kenneth Marshall (my father) Lorilyn Ann Marshall. Ida (Brett) Marshall had 5 siblings (Kenneth, John, Doug, Michael, and Lillian (all Bretts)).
I am looking for information from Aughust Haack back. He is the furthest back I can find. I think his parents are of Polish origin and I believe that the original name was changed to Haack. What the original name was I do not know. Can anyone HELP???!!!

Do you know when August was born? I believe that he more than likely is a cousin to my late father-in-law. The name was originally Haak, and they came from Prussia in 1855. I don't have the names handy, but there were brothers that my father-in-law could not find any record of. That's of the ones who came from Prussia. Email me, and I will tell you any more that I know.

Aughust Haack is my Step-Great Grandfather. This Aughust Haack was married to a woman named Constance Haack. She was married originally to Karl Lange. I believe that his middle name was Phillip. Charles Joseph Marshall Sr. was married to her as well. Charles Joseph Marshall JR. had a brother named Howard. If you would like to email me directly so we can have more direct communication, I think that would expidite our search! One more thing, from some of my research, I am finding a link to Polish decendants. I don't know anything about Prussia, please e-mail me at johncjmarshall@home.com. I will also update info on this site as it become available and verified. Thanks so much for your help.

I sent a message but I don't know if it went through. I'm researching an August Haack. He married Sophia Ihlenfeld and could have come over from Prussia in 1855. He settled in the Milwaukee, WI area. Is this the one that you know about?

Mary, I will have to look at my daughter's papers and see if it's the same one. The time frame is about right, and so is the location. I know that my ex-father-in-law's family lived around Michigan and Wisconsin. I will let you know more after I look at the papers. Thanks.

Surnames: Ihlenfeld Haack
I have an Anna Ihlenfeld married to a Haack in Milw., WI sometime between 1852 and 1873. She had one full sister living in Milwaukee after 1874-- Wilhelmina (Ihlenfeld) Boelk. Anna also had two half siblings Augusta (Ihlenfeld) Werner, and Wilhelm Ihlenfeld. The last three arrived in Milwauke between 1872 and 1876; Anna and her husband had arrived much earlier. Just wondering if you think this could be relation. There are not many Haack's or Ihlenfeld's in the Milwaukee area, and just wonder the coincidents of there being two Haack and Ihlenfeld marriages here at that time. Unfortunatley I do not have the complete (full names) of Anna or Wilhelmina, nor the name of the Haack husband,so do not know if your ancester fits in or not. Do you have any other information on this family? Ron
