I basically know nothing about this line and the spelling of the name could be any; i.e. frederick, fredrich.
This man was my g-grandfather and my mother knew next to nothing about any of her grandparents.
My mother says he was born Aug 1856 in Kentucky and died 1935 in Florida.
I see a Fred H Haack born in Missouri which makes more sense to me as ours lived in Missouri with his wife and children for a bit and we know my grandmother was born in St Louis, MO, the youngest child by ~15 years. This child told her children her mother Helen was French/Austrian background from the Alsace region.
He was married to a Helen Theresa Niedenthal according to our info.
This is what is available to trace a history.
I do have an mtDNA score on my mother to match through the women back to Niedenthal or a derivative thereof.
Thank you.

I have a Magdalena Haack ("Lena"), whose maiden name was Maria Magdalena Niedentohl, who married a Fred Haack in St. Louis, MO in about 1881. Lena was born in York, PA. They must have had a daughter, whose name I do not know, because I have a photo of them with a little girl. They also seem to have had some connection to Birmingham, AL and possibly Florida. Do you think there could be any connection?

It all sounds very familiar except for the woman's name which possibly could have been corrupted for some weird reason. I have seen this record and wondered. The immigrant Germans and Prussians were big on name change and secrecy. My mother thinks there was a Henrietta somewhere but unknown if other family member or in mother's name.
My Fredric and Helen were married in St Louis, lived in Birmingham after their only daughter married but also had a home in FL.
But while we show Helen as from PA, my mother's recollection is Waynesboro.
Helen's daughter's husband destroyed all records so all we have to go on is old memories which contain little family record. Helen's granddaughter is now 90 and shortly we can no longer use her memory and all persons to ask will be gone on our periphery.
It is possible your link and mine are the same but we need to check.
Would you be willing to share your information so I can check with my mother if anything rings a bell.
The photo would be a huge assist to show my mother and see if it could be her mother and grandmother.
Looking forward to a response and you may contact me at the email listed below.

Yes, I will be glad to send you anything I have to help us both! I have at least three photos to send, but I haven't scanned them yet and my husband is on the desktop right now. Actually, my family is from Waynesboro, PA, but Jacob, Lena's father, lived in York. Then his son, Henry Andrew, moved around and finally settled in Waynesboro, where many of us still are. I, however, live in Waynesboro, VA. My dream goal is to track Jacob back to his origins in Germany. I would also love to track down a photo, but it doesn't sound like that might come from your side, even if we are connected. I cringe to hear of anyone destroying records and photos!! The Birmingham, AL and FL connections must mean something, don't you think? If my husband EVER gets off the desktop tonight, I'll scan those photos and get them off to you ASAP. Keep in touch!
Judy
