My Grandfather Mihaly Gyuricza emigrated from Endrod(The "o" is spelled with 2 dots above it), Hungary to Canada in 1930. He was born September 10, 1894 in Hungary and died June 21, 1960 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
He married, my Grandmother Rosalia Koles in Endrod and brought her and his two children to Canada in 1931.

I am interested in tracing the ancestry of both
Rosalia Koles and
Mihaly Gyuricza
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you
Diana

Dear Diana,
I have just read your note on searching the origin of your name (Gyuricza).
Well, my husband and son are called that way and I can help you with your query.

Very best wishes,
Maria Gyuricza

Dear Maria
I am writing on behalf of my wife Diana. Her grandfather Mihaly(Michael) arrived in Halifax, Canada, aboard the ship, Cleveland, United American, March 22, 1930. Upon his arrival he anglized his surname to Gurica. Mihaly worked as a well digger in his native Hungary and occasionally practiced this craft while he farmed in Dewberry, Alberta.
Diana,s grandmother Rosalia, mother Mary and uncle Michael came to Canada in 1931. Her grandfather had came a year earlier to get established.
We have been attempting to get more info on her family in Hungary.

I have been recently researching my wifes family tree. I came across your post from 2005 about the family name Gyuricza. We are both very interested in following up on any help you may be able to offer.

Thanks

My father, Gyuricza Imre was born in 1899 in Endrod, and lived to be 101 years old, passing away in 2001. I don't know what his relationship to your grandfather would have been...possibly a cousin. However, my Grandfather, also Gyuricza Imre was born in 1874, just in case that rings any bells! My father and grandfather emigrated to Canada in 1928, and at that time, I know there were Gyuricza uncles and aunts in Chicago, and Pennsylvania. I have a Gyuricza anthology of all the Endrod Gyuricza's and it shows your grandfather passing away in 1975. Is that incorrect?

As to Koles Roszalia..If she was also from Endrod...I knew a Koles family when I lived in Edmonton, Alberta. Mr. Koles was Joszef, and his wife was Rose. They farmed in the Dewberry area when they were younger. They have long since passed away, but their two sons, Robert and Zoltan still live in Edmonton. I believe Bob would be retired by now, and perhaps Zolli as well, but he used to be a Professor at the University of Alberta. I know the Koles family lived just down the street from where my mother was born, in Endrod, because I have been there and that has been pointed out to me.

I hope this helps a bit.
